  • @megustafa123 Because they had just sold their loot and had nothing to lose.

You shoulda sunk 'em when they still had the loot aboard. Loot, especially valuable loot can make people stressed, stressed people make mistakes. The absolutely best time to attack is when someone else is vulnerable because they have loads of fancy swag aboard.

Also the fact that you were nice about it and left the island may have made them think you were weak.

For the record nice does not = weak. But you seem like you've learned your lesson. The next time a ship sails up and announces that they have lots of nice stuff just say "Thanks" and sink them.

  • kill or be killed! It's the pirate's life motto no?

  • When a game allows for this, there will always be people who do it. This game is open world PVP with PVE elements. There are those who play to attack others and there are those who just want to grind out reputations. There are also people who do both. Every time you log in you are randomly placed with any combination of those groups. Unless that changes in the future, this is how the game is and will be. Sail at your own risk friend. Note, not all those on the seas are out for blood. Until you know otherwise treat everyone as a threat. (Because that’s how you build great online communities 😄)

  • I would have killed you. If you want to go afk, go park away from an outpost.

After sitting waiting 5 mins for you to leave they were likely annoyed.

Look at your own behaviour sometimes.

  • @boxcar-squidy

Counter suggestion; let them sail your boat away and when they kill you, finish your discussion on the Ferry, respawn, and get on with your day.

Just, y'know, a different tactic if the ruthless option isn't yer cup o' tea. =D

  • The whole encounter was very rare. Most people (loot or no) sink fresh spawns on site. The fact they talked to you and asked you meant they were being polite to begin with. The fact you stayed was probably considered suspicious to them. I am with Biter Wylie on this. People who camp outposts are not helping those who need to use it. If you cannot finish business in a timely manner, well even non-PvP people will 'help' you move along.

  • Never trust anyone, if someone wants to use an outpost that you're at and they don't want to fight for it make them join an alliance with you as a tax for using the outpost. If they refuse attack them and make them regret it.

They probably attacked after it because they handed in their loot and had time before they had to log off. Why not get into a quick PVP situation for fun if you have 5 - 10 mins to spare.

  • Yeah, that's a great question...why?!
I jumped on yesterday, solo, and went straight to the outpost to get hoarder and OOT quests. That's it.
However, some random dude showed up and just started attacking me.
At first it wasn't a big deal; maybe he thought i was turning in loot which is just fine with me. that's part of the game. But after the fourth time of him killing me while i was trying to buy quests it was clear he was just trolling me with absolutely NOTHING to gain.
What the H-E-double hockey sticks is the point of that?!

And yes maybe i should've fought back, but I'll be the first one to say I'm NOT good at pirate-on-pirate fighting. So i would rather just try to avoid it.
