Just curious if anyone has figured out whether anchoring the ship far off shore stops volcano eruptions or rowing in keeps it inactive longer? Doesn't bother me if not, just curious if there's a better way for me to go about things :)

I usually row towards an active volcano. By the time I get to shore it has stopped and gives me time to do my thing. I recommend turning the boat around so it's ready to go when you park it. It's definitely more challenging with geysers and the frequency of eruptions, but that's what makes it fun. Range of volcano fire is about 1 square if you want to park out of range. The rowboat can haul bootay about as fast as mid sail down on a galleon if done right.
Afaik, having a rowboat or ship nearby doesn't affect the frequency or duration of eruptions. Seems like RNG to me. I would like to see the min time between eruptions to be longer, but they are generally pretty long. The active geysers and earthquakes preceding the eruption just make it seem shorter.
@aliasmask thanks for the reply! Yeah I'm having a blast on this DLC! The volcano kills me and my boa constantly but that's part of the challenge hahah! Yeah I figured it was random but thought I'd make sure
