Lantern Cult

Here's the story of a player based "cult" that a friend and I ran into on Sea of Thieves while playing duos in a sloop one night.
So we were doing a gold horders voyage and pulled up to an island at dark. It was Sunken Grove. On the way we had noticed an active sloop, so while my friend went on the island to look for the treasure I stayed on the ship to keep an eye out. I grabbed my blunderbuss to be ready in case they came to fight and in case they got close enough to board. I look behind me and see the sloop coming straight at our sloop's rear. I warned my friend (we were in party chat) and pulled out my spyglass. All I could see so far was one pirate holding a lantern and flashing it. Hoping it was a sign of friendship I flashed mine back and I heard another ringing their bell like crazy. They anchored right behind me and slowly their names start popping up. There were a ton of people on this sloop. At least 10 people. So I'm freaking out as they all jump off and board my boat. They hop on and we all start playing music. Just a giant circle of pirates on the back of the sloop jamming out. I told my friend how many there were and he said to go into game chat to see what they wanted. So I do and they're like, "Hey! He does have a mic!" as they start to raise my anchor to sail us all off. "Hey could you not take my boat?" I asked while lowering the anchor. "My friend is still on the island so I'm waiting on him." They get even more excited. "Oh there's another guy! Yeah you guys are coming with us now." I was trying to politely decline so they wouldn't destroy us. "No, that's fine, thank you. I think we're just gonna turn this in and do our own thing." Then it got kind of weird. "Oh no, you're coming with us. You have no choice. We're sinking your ship. You have to leave with us. You're one of us now." I laughed and told them they sounded like a creepy cult. Then they all surrounded me and flashed their lanterns while chanting, "One. Of. Uuuus." But then one of their guys started sailing off with their ship. They all bailed mine to catch it. I used the emote wave to send them off with a happy goodbye (still hoping they wouldn't sink me) and I heard them say, "wait is he staying? Oh no he's coming with us. He's not living. We will sink him." And they shot (and hit me with) a cannonball at me and said it was a "warning shot." I shot one back and it hit and immediately 7 of them jumped off shouting, "oh he's dead!" And they boarded me and rekt me. I went back to party chat to warn my friend on the island about the cult. He had found the chest and he told me he'd hide in the cave of Sunken Grove and I'd get the new ship when I respawn and sail back for him.
By the time I make it back I see their ship sailing the other way and my friend and I made it out okay and with our loot. My friend even refers to the cave as his "home" now since his character spent "probably several in game weeks" hiding out there lol
It was definitely the funniest thing to happen to me in the game so far.
I can't remember the names of any of the cult (since there were so many and it was all happening so quickly), so if any of you were a part of that crazy crew thanks for the laugh.
