Cheating
We have seen a few reported instances of cheating, where players are compromising the game client or using programs to gain an advantage over other players. Everyone should understand the seriousness with which we treat this, and anyone identified as taking part will have action taken against them, up to and including permanent Xbox Live account bans. We have a zero tolerance approach to this.
Investigating: We are investigating and have detected some instances of suspicious behaviour, and will be taking direct action against anyone abusing the game in this way. The number of people we are currently investigating who show suspicious behaviour make up an extremely small portion of our player base. Work is ongoing against this as a high priority, once we are certain we have identified people cheating we will swiftly ban them.so i think its clear... even RARE say it...
@oxynator haven‘t met one hacker yet.I got barely sunk anyway. That’s probably why I don’t see a big issue. And they will have a anti chest system .and people can’t get their hands on the game all the time over and over again like with counter strike. Sry for those wo encounterd hackers.
@weepaperboats of course there are hackers but barely anyone got into issues with it. Atleast for me and my friends (Europe). And if a hacker gets punished he can’t get his hands on the game for 2 Euro like it is with counter strike. You mentioned VAC... well sry it does ban a lot of people but the game is still unplayable. There is no real punishment for hackers. They get detected which takes ages anyway unless he’s doing it obvious and then he needs only 2 euros to come back. And WoW example is weak... I played it for a long time myself. At someone no one would want to risk their spent money and progression they made. Or well barely anyone and if they get punished they can’t just come back with 2 Euro. Same goes for SoT...
Is a problem. I was playing earlier solo when this guy out of nowhere appeared on my ship playing an instrument. He couldn't be killed and 1 shot me.
On respawn as he sank my ship he appeared at my new ship with me over and over.
Only option was to leave the server, this aint fun.

Then you're finding the wrong hacks/sites. Hack forums are a thing, where someone would post a created hack, and you cannot download or purchase it until a moderator virus checks it. These things exist. I'd give prime examples here, but that would totally go against any rules on this forum, let alone.

@kermitdafrog91 there is a hacking problem, people are able to see through ships players and items on the boat they run on and jump around and apparently are able to aim snap kill you and blunderbuss shots are now hit marketing people or just outright going right through them, people who are cheating so there is some type of health cheat. it all started again last night, and today, aimbots are running around with pistols, and they are also doing something to make boats not take any damage. as my squad shot a bot on the bottom of its boat 20 times, and they were on our ship and they had zero hall damage, because, I was inside their ship as it was getting hit, and it's all coming from pc I want a option to turn off finding pc players and that will be the end of it.
@jmgoodog11 also the people who are cheating are, flaming and swearing and calling us bad when the fact is they have to use cheats, I was able to sink loads of ships, before yesterday and take like 40+ skull forts as a sloop and sink big ships, and now when, I get bored my shots up close don't register and people are just jumping around and aimhacking with the pistol and nothing else, and what makes matters worse you know they have aimhack when they can see you at the bottom of the ocean under their boat and they are still trying to shoot you.
@breadbanana12 We (well, hopefully most of us) know, but it's never as prevalent on consoles. One has to jump through hoops to cheat on a console that many either don't have the technical aptitude to do, or don't want to invest the time and risk involved (like bricking their console or getting it permabanned on Live!). On a PC cheating is literally just a Google search away, with very minor actions needed to get working and often much easier to conceal.

There are cheats on all platforms stereotyping it to just PC makes you look incompetent, & you do realise half of the issues you literally said are to do with ping, invincible players ships not taking damage ping is when your connection to the server is bad so the instance you are in the player may be able to see you in one position but because ping is in play they could have moved around you but the server has not caught up to show this information to you, you cant tell if someone can see you through a ship because you cant spectate,Does it not occur to you that the other players are just good? everyone comes here moaning about hackers everywhere and honestly I have not had one in any of my games or none that I have been able to tell other than the skellies aimbots that's about it & pistols don't take a great player to shoot I can bang out skellies with the pistol better than I can with the sniper & that's even with a controller plugged into my PC a lot of pc players use controller because its more comfortable on this game.

Again you may of been good at one point but the games been out a while now people are learning they have obviously got better than what you can give, Just wait for a report player option to be in game then you can report all your deaths hoping for a ban to happen but it more than likely wont as you more than likely just got rekt & you know that nametag above your head? As long as a player is looking in your general direction your name glows up like a candle so they could of easily spotted you in the ocean I mean I hide under the ocean when I go for boarding and I can see there names glowing up on there ship.

I even tested something else I swam a pretty long distance and they shot them selfs into the water right on top of me why would they constantly be checking for me in the water while doing a skull fort. I could see the guy on the island looking at me through the water using his cheats.

Record it next time send to support, I myself have not encountered any yet. After being hit by the skellies at forts below deck thou I know what I'm looking for :)

You're making naive people look bad.. =þI'm very sure I encountered an aimbotter last evening playing. I love the game so far. But even as a good gunner, on a choppy see I can't hit the exact same spot on an opposing moving ship every time.
Watched this two player ship take down a Galleon before coming toward me and rapid firing precision shots.
This encounter prompted my search for SoT cheats and they are there.Cheating exists, its unfortunate but it's here. I'm sure the developers will do what they can to combat it.

Yes and I never said it wasn't hard but it is possible and I mean on PC there are viruses and what not it's not like you can get everything without consequence but yes cheat are easier to create and easier to get / install. but i'm pretty sure that is a very low number of player like even myself I cought myself saying "He's cheating!" in the middle of a fight just because he wasn't getting hit and was one-shotting me but I knew that he really wasn't at least I don't do thread all the time on the forums about it.
