The maneuver where you turn hard and then drop anchor to do a 180 is a popular staple move for sailing a ship, so I thought we should give it a name seeing how often we have to shout out to the rest of the crew when were planning on doing it, or have we already decided on a name? anchor turn? pivot maneuver? Handbrake? The dirty w***h? Sounds like a unnecessary question I know, but having a well known name for it means less confusion when needing to give commands to a pug crews.
Edit: So based on the responses it seems the most common name is Anchor Turn, but the closest to being grammatically correct is club hauling. Bootleg also seems close, but that seems to be more with vehicles than ships, even if it was used in a PotC movie, that doesn't mean its correct. Kedging was also used often but that seems to be used when the ship has already been mostly stopped and used to drag the ship into place like when in a port. However even club hauling isn't exactly correct because the maneuver were talking about in SoT isn't really possible, so it's up for interpretation. All that being said, we can call it whatever we want as a community, so how about a straw poll? I listed most of the terms used in the post.
