Why am I playing on US servers when I'm UK/EU based?

    Can anyone answer me this? the only people I ever seem to interact with in the world are American. My ping is consistently in the 130-150 range. Do we have regional servers for Sea of Thieves or are we forced to play on servers where latency will be an issue?

    I know this is a stress test so Rare may be artificially inflating ping time to simulate how the game runs with that sort of connection but if this is how it will be at release it's going to be a little annoying to say the least.

    I'm on PC so maybe I'm missing some region setting on the X-Box app, apologies if that's the case.

    @timmehsee To be honest, i really hope the servers will be uhhh.... cross-continent?

    @timmehsee I have the same problem, I live in EU and I get matched with people from US. I hope this is a scaletest issue otherwise this will be pubg all over again.

    @happyalbe the main problem I have with that is it becomes an issue when it comes to the PvP aspect of the game. Someone with lower latency (a connection to the 'home' server as it were) has an advantage when it comes to reaction time in combat.

    I had a situation today where I was fighting an American team of two (I know they were American because I can hear them talking), one of them boarded my Sloop, I shot him with the blunderbuss and got a hit marker I then hit him 3-4 times with my sword. At no time did he eat a banana to recover health and I'm still at full health he then hits me twice and I die. Somethings not right there for sure and the only thing I can put it down to is latency.

    This is the first time in the 20 or so hours I've played that I've thought 'F**k this, I'm out'.

    @timmehsee The hit mark issue is a well known one, and i agree. To be honest i had your very same problems against Europeans too, to the point i try to run instead of fighting. Either i'm very bad at fighting (which is probably true) or i must have some issues with my connection. I'd say both, because a 100% failure is statistically impossible unless you're blind.
    I'd wait the closed beta though, when stress tests will be over, before figuring it out. sometimes i had issues even picking up a chest.

    @happyalbe fair comment, this is a scale test so this maybe the sort of thing they're trying to cause or at least highlight and eliminate.. I'm just a little concerned with being forced to play on servers that are not local to my region especially with release being just over two weeks away.

    @timmehsee I agree. For now, i'd stick with the "let's wait the real beta" plan. ;)
