So I've been playing the beta on the XB1X and must say I really enjoy the game so far. Apart from getting 4v1'd when I was trying to find treasure solo but that's another story.
I jumped on my PC today, and decided to give the beta a shot to test the "it carries across" and cross platforming, and cranked the graphics up to maximum, and wow, it seemed a hell of a lot prettier than what I had remembered from last night on the XB1X.
Now I'm not so naive as to think the XB1X can compete with a PC graphically, however I did spend a relatively good amount of money on it, and given that my PC is about 4 years old I was a little bit shocked that the XB1X didn't look as pretty. My graphics card in the PC is an R9 270x, with only an I5-2500 CPU. I'm pretty sure the XB1X CPU/GPU could compare to this. Both systems were running at native 1080p (I don't have a 4k TV for the XB1X yet).
One of the main surprises I had was the view distance and how far away I could see islands from! As well as lighting/shadow effects.
I guess what I am wondering is:
- Because its only beta, have the XB1X enhancements not been added yet, meaning I am seeing it as a normal XB1 would play it?
- If the enhancements for XB1X are available, do I need to get a separate file to have the enhancements?
- What PC graphical settings equivalent would an XB1/XB1X be running the game at?
- Does anybody have any graphical comparison shots handy? I'm thinking of getting some screenshots from each but I am also about to head out for the afternoon.
