  • Depends on the situation and why it's done.

If you have 1 hole in the ship and they are preventing you from fixing it, then no.

If they fix that hole for you themselves and just kill you for fun - well probably also no, but this is considered toxic behavior so most likely would be some warning at first. Unless you are a streamer, then It might be possible from what I heard.

P.S. These are my thoughts, I don't know what leads to bans apart from cheating or being super toxic/racist.

  • A very large majority of the time it's making things personal that leads to consequences on the behavior side.

It's a game that just happens to have pvp. "Teaching lessons" acting tough for clips in social games, intentionally worsening the experience for others, these lead to most of the issues with behavior on the pvp side.

Play to have fun, pvp to sink/steal, and don't mistreat people and you'll likely have no issues.

I've never seen someone face consequences over behavior issues that objectively didn't have a clear trail of participating in what I mentioned above.

There are people that do nothing but pvp and haven't had issues for years, keep it clean and you'll be fine.

  • From a practical sense you are in control, when you die you can make the decision about whether to continue fighting. If you keep coming back then probably your opponent will keep killing you.

If I know I can't win I usually wait a minute or two on the Ferry for my ship to sink, if it doesn't I scuttle it. Sinking naturally generally costs less to repair.

So technically they can't spawn camp me and can't keep my ship.

  • @tosananab why? Are you the one engaging in it or the one being camped? Either way, it’s a no no and it should be stopped.

  • Spawncamping with the objective of sinking a ship or take it out of the circle in HG is not a ban reason.

Spawncamp just for grief others is, but reporting that is a waste of time. I did it tons of times in the past and the players I reported stills playing so... do not waste your time. They dont care about cheaters ruining the entire game, imagine about Spawncampers xD

  • Honestly, if you’re getting camped, you weren’t going to win that fight in the first place. Your ego is the only thing stopping you from scuttling. Reporting for spawn camping is mad cringe imo.

  • no, its a part of the game. rare has multiple spawn locations on a ship so either way its not truly spawn camping.

  • It's unlikely to get you redbearded, unless there are repeated incidents, but a yellowbeard is a real possibility.

Yes, contrary to some replies, it is against the Pirate Code and Community Code of Conduct to spawncamp a crew without the intent to sink them, or win an hourglass match, and with the intent to ruin their experience.

Proving that, however, is another matter... but somewhat more straightforward with the introduction of jettisoned supplies - as spawncamping to siphon supplies is no longer a valid excuse.

TL;DR - If a crew/player is seen to be deliberately keeping a ship afloat to continue the spawncamp beyond reason, that is bannable.

  • I think everyone has their own opinion on the subject but it's all up to the support team.

If you want a garenteed way to break a spawn camp that's gone too far:

    Scuttle
    or
    Scuttle and change seas.

but if you think you can break the camp, by all means try; just don't forget you're not forced to.

Not sure if one is in control when they die. I do not do any battling. I just play because some others want me to join. No interest in any of that stuff. Just will do map, carry stuff, or cook. But generally am doing other stuff. If you die, you spawn back with a black screen, and CAN be shot before you can do anything. It would be different if the devs made you appear when you could move or anything. But players will sit there and shoot you. I can say of the times I have died almost every time I would spawn back and would get killed before I could do anything. Even recently. I have not died a lot because we honestly have not see too many ships or players in all my time playing. That said, the devs certainly did a poor job in this area.

The one example of this turning on the players was when my husband was on the game and was away from the ship. He rowed over while they just kept doing this. Managed to get explosives by their ship while they did this. And ended up sinking them. He also killed 2 of the 3 players on our ship before dying. But the other just kept abusing the spawn system. My husband did whatever you do to get a new ship. We did not care because we had no loot or emissary up. Just not sure why so many players want to kill a defenseless player at spawn. Very bad design choice.

  • @blu-eyz-79 "you spawn back with a black screen"

That's your system loading or your network. On Xbox X that doesn't happen except in rare cases where there is a server issue, and I mean rare like one a month or two.

  • @ToSananaB The matter is ultimately one for Support to decide either way.

From Sea of Thieves Pirate Code and Community Code of Conduct:

    NEVER

Harass, bully, intimidate, threaten or encourage others to do harm. None of these behaviours will be tolerated. Any activity you engage in that is solely designed to target and upset another player or crew constitutes bullying. Repeated activity designed to ruin the experience of another player or crew constitutes harassment. Not only do we take these things very seriously, many law enforcement agencies recognise online abuse as an offence. If necessary, we will report incidents to the relevant authorities to take further action.
