Arena was never labeled as "going away" it was labeled as "on the back burner" now that it is labeled as going away, I know to play it more often. Don't punish us who have been waiting for an update, and label us as, hated Arena/would never play it. Those two things are not the same.

I think this is the wrong attitude.. please try and find a way of opening a dialog with whoever to reconsider. Give people time to earn what they want.

I recall that more than I ever recall hearing it was on a backburner, which since they announced, on its own pretty much signified its been dead to Rare for a long time now..

Idk man... if you couldn't see the removal of arena coming from a mile away, especially after they say "no longer receiving support", there's nothing anyone could have done for you.

@seakrakenfan We want to award the Good Boy to those that engaged with Arena during it's life span. While understand the frustration this is a way of us celebrating the most engaged Arena players and it would not be fair to allow people to grind for it at the end.

If you weren't ever motivated enough to play just to play, you don't deserve the reward. If you had known the deadline beforehand, yes, you would have played more to meet the requirement. But, the motivation would have been FOMO, not a genuine interest in playing Arena.I am neither disappointed nor excited for this announcement. I am upset the opportunity to unlock cosmetics has already been closed though. Some long time pirates treat Cosmetics as "badges". The more you have the better. I do feel bad the Team only saw 2% of the player base playing Arena. Because Arena had potential but the plague of Hit Registration really made me hate Arena and PvP in general! If Private Servers were released sooner to the world I could imagine the community would devise all sorts of Games to play that could have benefited Arena's development. My only hope now is that the team for Arena is being repurposed to assist in Private Servers. So content creators can host their OWN Arena of sorts. RIP Arena, it just wasn't your time. salutes
@threelegjohn Agree fully. Rare killed Arena and to pretend like they wish it was more popular is comical. No events for Arena, no new cosmetics or ledger/ leaderboard rewards, never fixed the chest light bug and I know comms removed is touchy but it kept the "banter" alive during after matches. Making it so bland and kicked to the side then blaming low player usage is funny to me.
They have had years!!! If they changed there minds now they would just be rewarding lazy bandwagon behavior.

I disagree, someone who could login ad earn it today should not be dis-counted because they didn't play 1 more game for something they knew nothing about. You can say "you should earn it by X" is ok, but to say "you should have earned it by X" even though you could have if you knew, is wrong to do to people.
@elieeleye I didn't even know anything about the midnight prowl since I did arena in sloop. What's it look like? I try to google but I can't find any images of it.

Arena sucks, and atleast Rare might have had some other incentive for someone other than the reward of the supposed joy of playing arena... let's be real.. most people didn't enjoy their grind for wins, kills, whatever else for comms and weapons.. they definitely did do it for the rewards though, and not as much of a genuine love for arena.
But yeah.. as far as I'm concerned.. the clocks been very clearly ticking on arena since they officially and publicly dropped all further support for it.
@justsaiyen93 given the lack of people playing arena, it's even easier to spike a server to trade kills. Also, the multiplier would be to counteract the lack of a time limit.
@seakrakenfan The Good Boy set is a gift, not a given. A gift to those who reached level 50 before the cut-off point. That is all.
@seakrakenfan if you learn anything from this, let it be that since the emissary update, your playstyle needs to be: play as much as you can for the two weeks after any update to take advantage of any progression imbalances and grab the new cosmetics/rewards ASAP so you don't lose the possibility of getting them, even if they are re-released two years down the road. You never know when a pretty hard change will come about and in the future it looks like some cosmetics might be retroactively rewarded for the grind as well. Take the last 10 weeks off between updates to go and enjoy other games.
Also remember two things: One is you can still play this game without buying a single thing from the emporium. Two is that a best way to have your voice heard with a business is the reluctance to spend money on said business.

@el-spaniardchi that's nothing new though, there are plenty of time limited cosmetics that will never be available for new players to get.
anyone who wants them has 6 weeks to earn them which if you are serious about getting them is plenty of time.
I'm usually pro whatever decision Rare makes. But ripping out the rug from people who never knew they would miss out is wrong. At least give us an opportunity. I'm not less committed to the game with 124d 5h 31m played. I was just dedicating that time to where Rare said they wanted it. If they said TT were in a bad state and we are gonna work on them and they are "on the back burner" I would have dedicated less time to them,, expecting an update.. not expecting them to be removed retroactively and no longer able to obtain the items.
I love the Arena and still really enjoy it. I would continue to play if it stayed. But, I have all the commendations, and Arena is just a fast way to get to fun PvP. If I had known that it was causing a drain in development time to keep it running, I would've wanted it ended sooner. Adventure is still my #1. It will be sad to see it go, but I would rather have more focus on Adventure. I will take the longer time to find a good fight in trade for more Adventure content. I think its nice that you're adding rewards to the dedicated ones - really, nothing is better than the fun times I've had there, that's gift enough for me. I look forward to seeing these figureheads, though.
I know it would take development time, but it might have been better if Arena was cut off from the game back in December 2020, and made a separate mode with no updates, that would require no development time to keep functional with every update to the main game. Maybe it could have been preserved that way.
Thank you Rare for the fun times I've had in Arena and the friends I've made. I will remember the Arena like I remember the likes of Hungering Deep.
Ouch... The Good Boy set (that I just googled) looks nifty for any Dog Lovers out there. The plain colors are a tad boring but I would love to see more Animal Printed Ship sets. Parrot, Dog, Cat, & Monkey with pallet swaps to keep the original Good Boy sets unique to who earned it. And What's this talk about the Midnight Set? Tell me more!
I feel like your not seeing the bigger picture hear, and just focusing on the rewards you missed out on.
With Arena gone, thats a whole chunk of the Development team (and probably a lot of back end server stuff thats way above my knowledge level) that can be used to better the adventure mode, that mean new cosmetics, new stories, new events, and things Im sure none of us have even thought of that can now come to the game.
Rare, please, don't listen to the loud player base this time. There was enough time to level up Sea Dogs. If you were 49.5 and you missed it, I am sorry, but if Rare lowers the level cap to SD45+ players, it will be exactly the same - all the people that are 44.5 will come and cry how unfair it is and to lower the req to SD40. Then SD39.5 players will come and cry...
People need to understand the Good Boy ship set is meant as a "thank you" for playing Arena despite its state, its flaws... If they would announce it beforehand, everyone would try to get to the level 50, not because of the Arena itself, but because of the reward.
Sidenote: I'm a Day 1 player, but I missed the Launch Crew eye of the reach (didn't buy it for 1 Gold back then even tho I played the game at the time). Then I took a break, missed the Cursed Sails update, so no "The Wilds" sails for me. And I would love to have them, but it would be unfair to all those that met requirements. It's only my "fault" that I missed that. And it's just a cosmetic game asset, not something important that gives you advantage.
