I haven't seen anyone cover this or anyone answer this kind of question, but I do wonder, can the FotD vault be opened by a regular Skeleton fort key? I doubt it's possible considering that would be insanely broken. Just imagine the loot! Anyways, goodluck on the seas!

@king-deka The regular fort key would be called, "Stronghold Key" while the FotD key is named, well, Fort of the Damned Key. Although i'm not Pirate Legend yet, only about 3 rep in every company before I get there, so I can't really give up a key. When I get there, i'll test it out.

From my understanding, the FotD vault is kept empty/open until the event is activated. Once it's activated it remains locked until the FotD key drops.
So taking a regular skeleton fort key to the FotD wouldn't do any good. And vise versa.
No way around having to complete the event I'm afraid :o
