I'm not entirely sure on the rules here, but I went to show a friend of mine the new Molten Sands content last night. Unfortunately, the boat ended up sinking after I got one-shot by a falling volcanic rock while trying to bucket the first rock that hit (The volcano really had it out for me I guess, it was basically back to back hits). I told my friend to keep going with the Fort, and hitch the mermaid to get our ship back.
It spawned me allllll the way over at Salty Sands in Shores of Plenty. I'm not sure if my reading of the map was correct, but this was roughly 18 nautical miles away(?), basically on the other side of the map. Luckily my friend pulled out clutch and managed to stay alive the entire time, but the sail back was absolutely brutal and I felt miserable the whole time.
Part of me understands this as a necessary buffer to allow other people to steal/intercept or, assuming you're the aggressor, give the defenders time to breath. But wow. For it being a Fort we activated, and the sink being from the volcano, that respawn feels bitter. Does anyone have any knowledge on how spawn distances are determined?
Side note: Every time I've done Molten Sands so far it's been uncontested. Am I just lucky, or do people really not find it worth it?
