Hidden Hoards

The ancient people who once dwelt on the Sea of Thieves were known for the great Vaults they built underground or deep within the mountainsides. Today’s historians may never grasp the true purpose of these hidden chambers, protected by devious traps and puzzles, but to this day there are those who use them to hide away their riches. Mounds of gold lie untouched in these Treasure Vaults, waiting for the light to shine on them once again…

TROVES AND TRAPS

TROVES AND TRAPS

The Gold Hoarders have made good use of these secret locations, storing their wealth in Treasure Vaults and moving it only when danger lurks. Now, with Flameheart’s ever more powerful minions threatening to gain access to the Vaults, the Gold Hoarders need trusted adventurers to track down the Vault Keys and bring them home!

Repurposed from ancient Puzzle Vaults, these hideaways are still primed with tricks, traps and defences. Any pirate bold enough to unlock and enter one of the Vaults may find a small fortune inside – the question is, can they escape with it alive?

FINDING THE WAY

The Gold Hoarders take secrecy seriously: when a Treasure Vault is locked, the Vault Key is buried in a separate location. The map to this location is then torn into pieces, each one buried in a golden rum bottle somewhere beneath the sands.

But don’t despair: to help retrieve the pieces and secure the key, the Gold Hoarders use an enchanted compass known as a Golden Wayfinder. Accept a Treasure Vault Voyage to acquire one for yourself! You can then return the key to the Gold Hoarders for a reward – or go on to unlock the Vault, recover the gold and sell it back to them. You are a pirate, after all…

INTRODUCING LARINNA

INTRODUCING LARINNA

The founder of the Bilge Rats, Larinna, has returned to Outpost society after some serious adventuring! Following Duke’s recent run of bad luck and dubious decisions, Larinna is here to take the reins and shake things up a little.

The sea’s favourite mischief-makers are as keen as ever to help pirates embark on their unruly Bilge Rat antics, so talk to Larinna in the months ahead to find out what she’s planning. If there’s something new that deserves your attention once she's settled in, don’t be surprised if she arranges to have a note delivered to you directly! Larinna will also be your gateway to the Black Market’s constantly changing cosmetic choices.

GETTING STARTED

To begin a Treasure Vault Voyage, speak to the Gold Hoarders’ representative at any Outpost. If you’ve reached rank 25 or higher, they’ll sell you a Voyage that makes use of a Golden Wayfinder compass to seek out a Vault Key, which you can either cash in or use to enter the Vault yourself.

If you haven’t yet reached rank 25 with the Gold Hoarders, Larinna has you covered for now – she’s taken over from Duke in the taverns while he takes a much-needed break at the Lagoon of Whispers, so speak to her for an alternative way to acquire a Treasure Vault Voyage!
