This has been something I never have been able to do...

  • And it seems silly but, howw do you catch a pondie??
I know they can only be caught in, well, ponds of course. But I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I'll get one on the line, but when it swims off to the side to the shore of the pond, it breaks free from my line and I lose the fish. Am I doing it wrong? I have to be doing it wrong. 😔
Could anyone please kindly help me out with some tips n tricks to catching these things? 😅
    Thank you in advance! 🙏😊

  • Which areas are you having an issue with?

I would say devil's ridge and mermaid's hideaway tend to be the more casual fishing friendly spots for pondies.

There are likely youtube videos for exact standing spots and stuff like that if you want a visual way to strategize.

Some spots can def be tricky but you can pick whichever pond works best for you.

Or Hidden Spring Keep (when it's not active) if you don't want to be bothered by skelletons spawning.

  • Just leave the sword skellies when you're fishing on the rocks at Mermaid.

Not to be captain obvious...but you're pulling the rod in the opposite direction they're swimming?

Turn the controller vibration for more clues lol.

    Is it just pondies?

  • Mate pondies are pretty easy to catch. I used Devils Ridge. Just position yourself near the largest open area in the pond (e.g the middle in this case), one reel in and they’re caught.

Good luck catching those you need quick!

  • You may need to find a bigger pond or fish from a different spot/angle?

  • @liliithxxx Were you finally able to catch any pondies? I like to fish for them at cursewater shores. Just stand on the small rock in the water and cast toward the big rock across the pond. Park your ship on the side away from the volcano and it should be fine. You don’t have to worry too much about skeletons and ocean crawlers. The geysers take out most of them. The pondies reel in quick here and the line doesn’t snap on anything if you stand where I said.
