i've played hourglass pvp for almost half of a year, and i can say after some thinking that it's full of problems. i will analyse three main problems on this post.
-first problem, the hourglass matchmaking:
this game is a pirate game, and it's not meant to be fair, i understand that; but, when we talk about PvP on demand things start go in a different way. the PvP should be at least fair, and in this case, the matchmaking should be based on the skills of the player which plays it. with the hourglass however the matchmaking feels casual and unfair;for example, you could literally win the first fight just because the opponent didn't even know what he was doing and them lose the following fight because you ecountered the extremly skilled PvP player; do you get what i'm saying? it fells more like you are playing a gambling game than a PvP match. but you(of course) could say: "you're just a new player that just sunk by a ship in a hourglass fight, so git gud"; yes, you could be right, except i play this game for almost 3-4 years and i reached the level 100 of the guardian of fortune with effort and struggles! so i know what i'm saying. so in short, the matchmaking is unfair and broken. but there's a solution, a precise skill based matchmaking which "observe" and store your action into data to compare to other's players to have the most fair PvP battle.
-second problem, the hackers:
hackers are everywhere, but with the arrival of the season eight they largly manifested in the PvP of this game, but more frequently on pc's battles. if you play on console, you won't have many problem with them but playing on pc is like playing mine field. you don't know to risk the next fight, because if you vote to go battle against someone else you could end up fighting an hacker and lose the game in few seconds; not mentioning those powerfull hackers that can shut down entire servers or even make you lose connection to it! yes, i know, Rare has done something against it but it's not effective enought; hackers could just use the game pass to reinstall sea of thieves for a small fee or change their profile to keep messing around with players and the game! in short, doing PvP on pc (or in general) has became unplayable because of hackers. a solution to apply for hackers, is a sistem which when bans the hacker it also store information about the device that is using, in case the hacker try to just change the profile or use the game pass to avoid bans.
-third problem, bug and toxic behavior:
sea of thieves is a big game, a big game is a big programm, and the bigger the programm is the more likely is to develop bugs.
hit reg is a notorious problem in sea of thieves, Rare is trying his best to fix, but the hit reg with ships and with weapon like the blunderbuss is really persistent.
about toxic behavior, there are to much players that insult you after they killed you or sunk your ship and after that brutally insult you with textual chat or voice chat. and, i know, it's not toxic spamming "rolling on the deck laughing" or just saying "we won, ha ha ha"; but! there are line that can't be crossed, and reading in chat heavy slurs or even hearing death threaths is to much. so i gently ask, if there's a way to kick out these air's wasters?
thank you for reading my complains, all of this was possible by experience and a help of a friend. if you have question about my solution, feel free to ask me; and if you want to share your opinion, feel free to post it here, because i'm well open to changes of mind.
thank you, have a good day!
