Sea of Thieves on the Next Generation of Consoles

Find out how our grand pirate adventure performs on Xbox Series X and S!

As the excitement for a new generation of consoles continues to grow, we’re delighted to share more details about how Sea of Thieves will be optimised for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, unlocking some notable performance improvements.

The first thing you’ll notice is how it looks: next-gen console players will experience the beauty of our pirate paradise like never before when they experience it running at 60 frames per second in full 4K definition on Xbox Series X, and 60 frames per second in 1080p on Xbox Series S.

Then there are the performance improvements: the greater processing power of both new consoles will lead to significantly reduced load times, helping players get into the action (and back into the action after sinking or visiting the Ferry of the Damned) much more quickly.

To mark the occasion, there’s also a specially designed gift of a free ship set awaiting Sea of Thieves players on Xbox Series X and Series S!

Anyone who sets sail in Sea of Thieves on an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S console between November 10th, 2020 and May 9th, 2021 will earn the Duke Ship Set, celebrating multiple generations of Xbox consoles and one of Sea of Thieves’ longest-serving characters. Simply playing the game on Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S will unlock this entitlement, and the Duke Ship Set will be in the Shipwright’s chest ready to be equipped the next time you log in and play!

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S optimised version of Sea of Thieves will be available to all players with Xbox Game Pass alongside the launch of both new consoles, and via Smart Delivery for existing owners.

So if you're not already an owner but fancy a slice of piratical action alongside your next-generation console, there’s never been a better time to pick up Sea of Thieves. We hope you’re excited as we are about setting sail with a new generation of players, so roll on November 10th when we’ll see you all, pirates old and new, on the seas!
