add a tackle box for bait.

  • This is a simple concept, but consider adding a crate called tackle box that stores bait the same way the fruit crate stores fruit and the cannonball crate stores cannonballs. The caveat of this item is that you can only sell it to merricks daughter that eats bait.

  • sellable not even needed, just a box where i can store my bait.

Who in their sane mind puts worms near actual food?

  • I like this idea - simply another supply crate that's specifically used for bait. Not sure about it being sold only to Merrick's daughter. though - I think it should be sold to any HC representative.

I think there should be 2 items, not just 1:

    1. A tackle box specifically just for bait that's rooted in place on your ship, just like with the food, wood, and cannonball barrels.
    2. A supply crate specifically for bait that can be found, moved, interacted with, and turned in for profit.

The reason I suggested making it an item that can be sold to merricks daughter is because i think it would be a cool concept to have a new item that a specific person will buy, but no one else will.

Yes, I understand that, but it creates an imbalance issue - for example, I could fish at her sea post knowing that every bait supply crate will eventually have to go there. There needs to be multiple places to turn in.

  • I love this idea!

  • @galactic-geek

imbalance as in players will contest the location trying to fight players looking to turn it in? her location is void of dirt to dig, but it does have barrels. im not sure what you mean by imbalance.

if you were to fish at the seapost all day 2 things would happen. 1 you'd waste a ton of time fishing for splashtails that you can't cook and 2 you'd get killed when another player showed up to turn in their bait.

currently there's nothing stopping you from fishing all day at a seapost other than a lack of bait should you choose to. So that's not an issue.

hijacking other player's bait stashes? Good?! at least players will finally have something tangible to turn into the hunter's call instead of nothing due to sinking ships not allowing food barrels to float up.

And if your ship sinks maybe you can at least recover your bait?

if your concern is that a player with bait would be able to endlessly fish with bait at a seapost... well the problem there is that this particular seapost is three paces east. meaning you're only going to find splashtails, wildsplashes, and the occasional stormfish. so... not sure how that'd be any different from fishing at tri-rock and then sailing due north east to the seapost. in fact tri-rock would probably be just as convenient with less fear of being sunk by a passing ship and you'd have an endless supply of bait since you can dig bait up with your shovel.

those are the only scenarios i can think of. please elaborate.

  • @wydyadoit If there's only 1 place to turn it in, then nobody would turn it in, because players would know that's the sea post to camp.

  • yes please!
