The “Double Gun” change is coming...

  • What do you think the change will be?

    My thought is simply they make the weapon swap button need to be held for a second or two to switch weapons.

  • @k1lroyw4sh3r3 nerf damage of sniper at close range .. if they are in your face or on your boat=less damage output that way immediate switch to pistol will not kill you .. parked or sailing along side snipe can do 80% damage with a much less of a chance the pistol shot is going to hit with less consequece when it does at they still have to advance on you while you respawn

  • I'm not sure, but I think they may force each weapon to be re-cocked when it's drawn. Wouldn't want a live pistol to go off accidentally in your waistband would you?

  • either @XxCaptMichaelxX 's idea or simply only allowing players to carry one firearm. a controversial topic, i know, but this was discussed before in beta. personally i like XxCaptMichaelxX's idea. however, i cant help but to wonder if one firearm would allow more role play among a crew.

    I like that but I also don't. On one hand I agree that the damage should be modified to make sure 2 shots of any gun combined will never be able to kill you, but it just doesn't make sense for the Eye of Reach to output less damage when not using the scope.

    Although the usage could be different, much like Widowmaker's gun in Overwatch.

  • It won’t be “holding the button down” because, on a PC, you can switch weapons by rolling the mouse wheel.

    I have my own guess, but this speculation is pointless. We will see soon enough.

    Pointless or not, that's why we have these forums :). Please throw in your own guess, I am curious to hear about it.

  • @k1lroyw4sh3r3 I hope they First: nerf the damage output at close range for sniper (let's say about 30/40 damage in a range of 7-8 meter or less
    And Second: You can't use 2 guns at the same time, means spot 1 is always the cutlass

  • Im almost certain they just make the animation longer before you can use the weapon.

    To force players always use a cutlass and one open spot for a firearm of choice isnt the best solution imo. PVP i always have the cutlass equiped, but when i fight golden skellies, i like equiping 2 guns.

    The damage nerf for EOR is (in my eyes) not a good solution either. Snipers should do more damage, but it should be harder to hit your target. So maybe a nerf in accuracy when shooting from the hip is a good compromis..

  • Okay...

    Rare have been talking about how they were trying to solve this, and are just about to put it into testing. That suggests a solution more nuanced that just making the cutlass mandatory. Also, that approach would be widely decried as two guns is a legitimate choice, even without the double-shot.

    Secondly, equipping anything is instant now. If selecting a weapon was made a “hold a button” function, you would not be able to switch from shovel to sword quickly. That too would cause an outcry. And “hold a button” could not be made to work with mouse wheel.

    My guess is that you will not be allowed to switch AWAY from any gun until after it has been reloaded. That would be nice because it would mean that when you switch TO any gun, it will be loaded (after last use) and ready to go, assuming you have the bullets.

    Not sure about what will happen if you fire your last bullet though.

    But: you see why any of these seemingly simple problems are never as simple as they seem. There are so many things to consider, to solve the problems without creating another, and to cover all the possible edge cases.

    THAT is why this speculation is fruitless. I trust in Rare to come up with a workable solution that is better than anything we dumb donkeys can think of.

    They need to get rid of no scope sniper, it can still be almost instant kill with a cutlass.

  • I think it should be standard cutlass (what self respecting pirate didnt carry a cutlass) and one firearm. Yes it won't be popular but it would resolve the "double gun" issue and involve the other crew members more by having them be ready with a firearm equipped. Or increase the reload time on the EoR regular sniper rifle doesn't reload that quickly. Anyway just my thoughts!
