A Problem With Skeleton Ships and Teamwork

  • So me and my crew tried out the skeleton ships today to answer one question, will we need more than one crew to do this? and yeah, you pretty much do which is a little disappointing for one reason. Me and my crew don't enjoy making teams with other crews, and I don't like that were pretty much forced to. We enjoy the mentality that we can screw over literally anyone just because were pirates, But when we HAVE to get another crew because Rare wants to shove teamwork into our faces by having two skeleton ships team up like the Black Pearl and Flying Dutchman to murder us in like 2 minutes its a little annoying.

Basically, Teamwork if fine but its real annoying to introduce events where we HAVE to with other players even if we don't want to.
What do you guys think about this?

  • its just one spot active, skellieship raids r a rush hour,so feel free to sunk the galleons instead;). i like the alliance system the problem is people r snitches in sot.yesterday we did the skelli ship in the wilds 4 ships we opened a xbox party chat n it was a great team and fun,2 ships left at the end(my crew and brigantine) guess what happened after we sunk the last ship, they cancelled the alliance n decided to fight for the loot....i dont care about the money and maybe for some people its piratestyle.where is the fun? work as a great team talkin friendly to each other n than actin like an idiot for some loot ,thats not what teamwork is for me..the alliance system needs a huge cooldown 15 minutes,it can be to easy abused,n friendly fire would be also good

  • we did a battle on a 4 man galleon, without help.

we sank once (because of them curses balls... they keep spamming... can't repair... hopefully that gets fixed)

  • @captainkawaii12

I very much think as we progress through the event this week, we'll read accounts of solo ships defeating the skellie ones, I've seen one or two already - I think it's also very likely that even if you don't form an alliance there'll be one or two in the same area of the map, fighting the cursed sails ships.

The benefit of the alliance system is that you'll share the gold from the loot when you turn in, rather than having to scramble and grab as much as you can when they sink..... if you're not betrayed by aforementioned alliance members, that is, which is always a possibility.

  • @handsh0t Hm well maybe my issue was we only had a 3 man crew plus the spam lol

  • @captainkawaii12 Yea could be. Rare should alter something on the cursed cannonball spam and reduce the amount of time you're drunk / dancing. The holes aren't the problem. The problem is you can't repair them while you're full-time dancing...

If that issue is sorted you will be able to solo the battle on a brigantine... right now it is very hard and you got to be lucky on the cursed balls. Just make sure to board the enemy ship real quick and kill the cannon minions.

  • @handsh0t that was actually my other issue with the fight, the respawns of the skeletons, I hoped aboard and started killing em. Now the normal ones respawning I'm good with but it seems a little unfair to have a respawning captain

  • @captainkawaii12 Well the respawning time on the minions is sick too... You need to keep watching your back on them blunderbusses lol.

  • I went to 7 servers today and no one was doing the skellies, hopefully have some more luck tonight as I need those alliance sails challenges. It is also hard when you get noob ships trying to do advanced combat, they have no chance as this challenge has assumed that players know what they are doing. The new players were turned off the game mode quickly due to difficulty.

  • Jup its hard to have teamwork for one day 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 —- irony

  • So it is a major help to have two ships, but me and my mate took down 11 ships on our sloop, we ran out of supplies and started ramming them one of us jumped on grabbed more supplies and defended the holes, we ran out of time to finish the battle but we're sure we can do it as a duo.

  • If you want to go around being a jerk who screws everyone over instead of cooperating with them, life SHOULD be more difficult for you. It's a fundamental aspect of the human condition, even if you're a pirate. You really think pirates were always screwing eachother over, or that the ones who did screw other pirates over didn't have a harder time?

  • From what it sounds like you feel you HAVE to have 2 or more ships to survive the fight and thats not true. We beat these events with only our crew of two sloop. The only way you HAVE to alliance up is if you want to 100% the commendations. Its optional so makes sense to have COOP commendations. Beyond that if you dont wanna work with other ships I suggest you get gud. Also explosive barrels.(actual advice.)

  • @fuzzyrocket5198 well I don't think it matters what pirates actually did, I should play the way I wanna play. and if that means looting other players because the game allows it then whats wrong with that

Spent 6 hours in the same location doing the skellies had two extra crew members on the brig with myself and 2 others (total of 5) the two people were abandoned by their galleon so they joined us. no other ships arrived in that time. kept sinking ships they kept responding and nothing happened. when I got on it was the 31st when I got off it was the 4th. Have had countless issues with there being a lack of ships in the server to even attempt a alliance. Let alone do the coop events.

Have tried server swapping and after at least 6 swaps to the same result with about an hour of sailing looking for ships and failing to see any that didn't work either.

so any suggestions on how to find a server that isn't empty?

  • @captainkawaii12 Nothing is wrong with it, but it'll make the game harder in some instances. You seem fine with the game allowing you to screw people over and thus make completing quests harder for people who want to work as a team, but you aren't okay with the game giving you a harder time for not working together in some instances? Doesn't make sense to me.

  • I don't really like interacting with Humans...

    That is all.

  • Rare made a huge compromise with the Alliances allowing boats to team up and people are still crying. These people will cry until there are PVE servers and zero risk in the game.

Same. We spent 6 hours before ever seeing another ship. 6 hours. Six. Hours.

Rare seems to think people have way too much free time. We don’t.

Well maybe you should change that mentality for certain types of content then because Rare doesn't want that to be the case for this type of content. There's this thing called "not being a bloodthirsty psychopath" and most people tend to know how to do that when they want to pursue a larger goal that requires teamwork and cooperation with others. Heck, that's kind of how society operates because otherwise we wouldn't even be here typing on our computers and playing video games. We'd be busy fighting for food and shelter because we wouldn't be able to mentally evolve past a primitive tribal system.

If you can't hold off on being a jerk for a single play session then maybe the problem is your attitude towards the game, and not the content itself. The content is able to be done with a single ship if you really put the effort into it, but the point is to encourage use of their new Alliance system. If you don't want to play that way then good luck fighting it alone.

Agreed sir, but maybe I've just been unlucky and smitten with a bug. or maybe just no one is online from 5-12 on the weekdays. Well I suppose i'll have to sail all weekend long with no breaks to catch up. xC

  • I love it. nuff said.

having said that you do know there nothing stopping you from joining an alliance, doing some work together, then slaughtering your team-mates, stealing there loot and leaving the alliance right? Someone mentioned being a bloodthirsty Psychopath, Try being more Pirate and actually backstabbing instead of just you know... Stabbing...

  • Outside of the event, pirate all day. I will kill you, take your loot, and sell it.

DURING the event, I think it takes a real special type of s*****g to steal the boss loot, break the alliance, and screw over multiple crews. Especially since you can share loot.

Had a crew try this on us last night, they ended up getting stuck on an island and dying. After talking ALOT of smack, they only got away with 1 skeleton chest, and we managed to steal back the rest and sell it all. And you know what? No f's given to those s******s. ;3

  • Was messing around before work today with a random on a sloop who was out fighting skele ships, we both were off our boat to board the captains ship as it sank and they kegged us to take all the loot for themselves, boat sank before we could get back. I wasn't really mad since I had to leave soon anyway and didn't anticipate getting anything, but was just annoyed. They were punk kids, wish I could have gone back and griefed them until they ragequit.

  • We take down The Crew in The Wilds just with a Galleon 340 cannonballs 100 Planks amd 20 gunpowderkegs. We also sunk a attacking Brig 2 Times . It was ez .

  • Your original argument is that your play style is to never team up, so you're upset about being forced to team up. But here's the thing, you're not forced to team up. You want to fight anything in your way that's your business, but you don't have to team up unless you want the commendations. Just like the hungering deep event, participating is optional. You can continue to progress through the game without so much as looking at these skeleton ships, you just won't get this event's doubloons or cosmetic items. If you choose to refuse to play any other way, that's your choice. If I choose to never get on a boat and only walk around the outpost I spawn on, that's a choice I can make, but it would be strange for me to complain that "there's no content for pedestrians." Others said they were able to fight the skeletons alone, maybe see what they suggest to do this just with your crew.
