Pirate Factions

  • I was thinking about how SOT can change things up in terms of PvP and thought perhaps having pirate factions could make things a bit more interesting. You can have two factions that are joinable at the outposts maybe at the tavern with an NPC, you have to vote like quests with the voting knife to join one. Once you join one you have to wait a while to leave the faction, you can also go rogue meaning you don't have to belong to a faction. There can also be some perks to joining a faction (IDK yet like maybe slight boat speed increase or something, make suggestions if you want). The main thing is though that interaction with other crews can be a whole lot different with this system. I think you should still be able to kill and sink other pirates of the same faction but it would have dire consequence for instance if your in Faction A and you kill another member of that faction, the NPC Faction leader at the outpost will put a bounty on you and pirates of the same faction that hunt you down will get a huge reward. Also killing and sinking ships of the opposite faction can be rewarded at the NPC faction leader at the outpost. Having this system also may have the potential to increase ships per server because I think the reason as why it is the number now is so to keep the PvP levels at a certain level but with this system you can meet more ships because you have the likelihood of meeting another ship of the same faction which most likely won't attack you. Players of the same faction will have blue text and as for identifying the ship I'm not entirely sure maybe an extra figure head at the tip of the ship? What do you guys think?

  • This could be very handy indeed.
