SOT unplayable on Xbox one X? Visually glitch turns sun rays in to pure black and turns the sand green.

    Hello everyone I just bought sea of thieves and the Xbox one X just to play the game. But I have had nothing but problems with both the game and the Xbox. Every time I look at the sky this happens alt text

    So every time I look at the anything that casts a shadow blacks out. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Is it my Xbox? My friends on the Older version of Xbox’s have never seen or heard of this befor. I thought that getting the Xbox one X I could avoid problems like this.

    Fellow Xbox One X player here and have none of the issues you have reported above. Make sure you submit a bug ticket using the link below while we come up with some solutions so Rare know you are having these issues. Make sure you upload the screenshot you have posted above to the ticket as this will be very helpful.

    I've been playing with X1X since launch and never had these issues. Have you tried if other games have the same issues? Just wondering if it's your TV settings or wrong HDMI cable or something.

    Follow the link he posted then continue to the next link RAISE A SUPPORT REQUEST or just click this link to skip a page of FAQs.

    There will be a combo box ("dropbox") where you can select which type of report you wish to address.
    As it's not exactly a known game bug, perhaps you could try "Hardware, OS and Driver Support".

    @emptiedmasonjar In the mean time (as support is very slow at arriving) it might pay to test other games to determine if it's not a problem with that particular console. It may be faulty and need to be returned to place of purchase.

    Ask a friend if you can test any one of their games on your console just to be sure. So you can pinpoint the exact problem.
    To me it sounds like it would be the console at fault.

    Other games work fine for the most part I have only played this and pubg but pubg on my Xbox crashes the whole console 40% of games so far. My friend playing on a day one Xbox crashed maybe 2 times all night and only back to the dashboard. I think it might be my Xbox Ine X is defective? The also seems to be a lot of lag on the dashboard as well

    @emptiedmasonjar Have you tried a factory reset of the Xbox? That solved an issue I once had with the networking on mine. I know its a separate part, but I would never have believed a factory reset could have fixed what I thought was a hardware issue.

    Also try to hard reset your box if you haven't already. Doing that has fixed many issues such as games crashing.

    In all honesty, problems like this are usually related to overheating or driver/hardware failure. It is possible you are having issues with your console.

    I don't have an Xbox, but I do think it would be worth-your-while to at least factory reset and see if the problems continue... if they do, I would be looking at something like blowing the dust out of the Xbox, or having it serviced if you cannot do that on your own. Often times cleaning dust out of a console involves ripping it apart.

    @aod-fluid as this was a fresh out of the box Xbox one X I have just decided to return the system and get a replacement. Hopefully when I get off work and redownloas everything will work out

    Appears these issues are just happening to you. I find my visuals and game run more smoothly on my Xbox One X than the those playing on the original Xbox One and PC.

    @shamanmclamie I would have to agree my pc is showing it’s age a bit and the Xbox one X was very beautiful except for this shadow thing. have a replacement Xbox one X and will update if the problem happens again on the new system

    So I have gotten a replacement Xbox one X and redownloaded SOT and everything works perfectly! This as I and lots of you here have thought was a faulty system.
