Finding pirates to help nightmare...

  • I loved all the clues and working out how to get the drum and trumpet but number one how do you use the trumpet it does nothing?
Number 2 finding enough pirates to help is impossible tried game chat the chat wheel can't find anyone to help us summon the megalodon...even if we could 5 players to do 5 how does that make sense I know you're trying to get people to work together...sorry guys but have you played through sessions on your game all anybody wants is to sink your ship I have since launch found 2 players who've been helpful and didn't want to sink me...only 2 in all that time is ridiculous I prefer PvE but seen as that isn't an option I've no way to complete the hungering deep please fix the game I love it I've waited years to play and its just full of griefers who don't care about doing anything other than sink ships without any loot on pointless!
Am sorry to rant but am not the only one thinking it :/

  • try a different server. it only takes one full-diaper-wearing neckbeard to ruin it for everyone. the server I was on was nearly making me see rainbows with how nice everyone was being lol had to go to work before we could summon, but perhaps i will meet her tonight. good luck! keep at it!

  • @maquark

I have yet to log in to try but I’m kinda expecting the same results. After most do it, they will simply camp the cove or the spawn point to grief others. At least that’s what I’ve grown to expect from this game. Solo players like myself will have the hardes time, but it’s what Ive come to expect from the “git gud” crews.

  • That sucks! Im a friendly.... Been lucky to. Have had more helpfull peeps the " pirates "

  • @boca-g yeah, I'm worrying about that as well. i feel like i was lucky because i got on after servers were back up. first come first serve and the rest get camped for no reason other than to bully. hopefully that isn't quite the case when i get on tonight to summon. i had to go to work before i could do that 😩 add me and you don't have to solo anymore. I'm on around midnight to 3am EST and then play an hour or two before work (usually rocket league or something if i don't have a lot of time)

  • Honestly try to team up with other crews immediatly, if you are trying to take on the Hungering Deep.
I followed a galleon and a sloop around which obviously already worked together, i joined in, another sloop came by and honestly: who would mess with this fleet and get away with it?

The flags and the "trumpet" are helpful, if used correctly, these are a couple of new tools we have to utilize.

  • @sirliborius how do you use the trumpet?

  • @delpoi Just equip it once you received it.
It's on the second page of the inventory, besides the tankard.
To use it, you just select it and it's sort of push-to-talk shout.
If i understood this correctly, you just hold RT (or LMB i guess) and talk.

  • @sirliborius so definitely in game chat?...cause I tried using game chat but didn't get any feedback from it if it worked or not I'll keep trying thanks :)

  • @pure-rare said in Finding pirates to help nightmare...:

I stopped reading at "please fix the game"
The game isn't broken just try harder.

You read quite a bit then didn't you clever boy :D

  • @delpoi Yes, it only boosts you ingame voicechat. The missing feedback when using it confused me too.

  • ...discord?

  • The OP makes me think about expanding the definition of griefing. It's is missing some paragraph about punctuation.

  • Ready on deck and happy to lend a hand!

  • @delpoi The game is all about communication. The Horn is for voice communication mainly.
Just equip it left klick or RT and speak/ push to talk speak.

I've had so many good interactions with the speaking horn.
This and the new flag system will improve your life on the seas. See someone with a jolly roger: They're probably going to kill you, see a white flag: Good possibility they'll leave you alone. See a shark hunting flag: Probably willing to team up for the Hungering one fight.

Also, if you dont have a mic, get one. I'm willing to sink anyone who doesnt respond with voice since the new the new horn item just to teach them the value of communication.

  • @delpoi Ahm... *cleans throat... The trumpet lets you use the gamechat from far distances (you no longer have to get close to another ship to speak to them). And to get the meg summon it¿s quite easy, go to Merrick with a full galleon (make a post for people with drums and mics) and just wait for one more ship to come, it usually takes about 10 mins maximum

  • @carlosylu 10 minutes? We waited an hour and never saw another soul.

  • I'm working from home today so Xbox will be on all day lol.
Up for an invite if anyone needs a hand. Done it a few times already but hearing people's reactions when they see it for the first time is quite cool 😀

  • Just takes sometime. I was going through Discord trying to find a group while sailing solo on a Sloop to location. Got lucky and found 2 other Sloops there with another Galleon coming. We summoned and fought but I sank. By the time I got back one other Sloop was up. We kept fight but we both sank.

I sailed back again, saw a Gallon at Ancient but this was a new group that had already done Meg and just logged in. They took me over to location but other groups had left. We band together and FINALLY summon and kill it.

So yeah finding the people to do it can be difficult but it’s not impossible. Just keep trying. The Discord helps a lot. Still lots of people looking to do event.

  • Today was a horrible day for me. I was trying to go for the megalodon but there were so many jerks camping Shark Bait Cove and faking they were friendly just to try to screw us up... I dont know, Im just... really frustrated...
Ppl that did the mission already, wont do it again because theres no extra reaward for doing it over and over (like Skull Forts) so they are just troling.
I would happily exchange chests for the help received (its much easier to get good chests on high lvl quests nowadays) but they dont really care about XP or gold, they just want to make ppls life miserable and yes, they got what they wanted lol
    It`s just really frustrating...
PS- Sorry for my bad english

Don't forget that the horn also has its own chat wheel options which are very useful when encountering other ships. Especially when xbox players are in party chat and don't hear in game chat.

  • @boca-g personally i dont think those are the “git-gud” crews they are just children that take advantage of something like this, i personally didnt have to deal with them but seeing as they are camping a spot people have to go to for a mission and they are only there to sink people and be pretty sure that said people dont carry any loot its just being a bully and prevent people from having a good time.

A true “git-gud” crew will take advantage of other things like skull forts or people obviously on a voyage and probably carrying loot and try to sink them, those are some of the crews i sail with.

Since that i only need 2 more lvls in merchant only and have over a million in gold i dont see the use of trying get the loot of off anybody else i have become way more friendly and usually only shoot once i feel threatened (ship comming in at full speed without slowing down) but once something like that happens there is someone that is gonna get a brand spanking new ship soon.

Also dont roll up o me once im at a skull fort because that is an act of war, especially if im on a galleon.

I dont get why some sloops try to come up to a galleon at a fort only to ask if they can help and if we say no (by way of cannons) they get offended because they were friendly.

You can be pretty sure a galleon is in no need of help at a skull fort and to get loot out of it either sink em or steal from em but no help is required even with a 3 person gally

  • @pure-rare
;) i'have killed 2 MEG ! this dlc is just perfect
    text alternatif

  • @tat-lilac Theres another thread about people not being able to finish the Meg maybe you could team up with them ? as having a full Gally can really help I found https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/61553/not-able-to-finish-the-hungering-deep

I have already fought the Meg but would be happy to help and join in the hunt again to help others complete it too :)

  • I finally finished the quest today. I was no easy task...oh, not the mission itself, but finding the required "others" in order to summon and fight boss at the end.

The first time I went to Merrick and wait in hopes of finding players looking to finish THD, I was greeted by a silent player sitting on his sloop that looked like he was waiting for a group too. I dropped anchor, tried to make contact but there was no response, and then went a shore to dance next to Merrick while I waited for the AFK player to return. Once on shore, the AFK player jumped to and opened fire on my sloop. I had to kill the player at that point, where he then scuttled his ship from the ferry.
(not the first time I have crossed paths with a greifer that camped the quest route)

The second attempt after switching servers, I met up with a fun player without a mic who had already completed the quest in full and was just waiting around to offer help to others. I was excited and thought my luck had changed...but when we waited, and waited, and waited for no other players to arrive. He sailed off leaving me there alone.

The third time I thought I would try my luck at the LFG posts. I replied to several posts. Some were ignored, and others were accepted...but for some reason there were technical issues or lack of knowledge on the posters part that prevented follow through with joining a crew. Finally, on my last attempt before calling it quits for the day, I responded to an add that was looking for UK players only and was accepted. I was worried that I would find myself in a situation like before where we couldn't find a second crew to sail out and summon the boss but they had already done the leg work of server hopping until they were all together...........I finally was able to complete THD.

Total time summoning and fighting the boss - aprox 30min.
Total time today working to just to the boss fight (not including quest time to get drum) - 2 1/2 - 3hrs

The frustration and discouragement is real.

Keep at it is all I have to offer at this time.

I will be happy to offer help to players who want to do THD, just to help prevent people from having the less than great experiences that I have had with it.

  • try your luck in offical discord and by server hopping is all advice i can give u :/

Does it really work like a push-to-talk? Also on XBox when you're in the party-chat? I know that I can hear others who use it, when I'm in the party chat, but I don't know if it works the other way...

  • @schwammlgott No, afaik it doesn't work with party chat, it only boosts the ingame voice chat. (that' why i changed it into push-to-shout, not talk) ;-)
But i didn't know that i can hear other players using it while i'm in party chat, thats nice to know.

  • @sirliborius one of the guys in my party said it is a bug, and also told me others can hear me even when I'm in the party, but I couldn't proof it...so I'm confused right now...some people say this, some that... think I make an extra thread for this, maybe someone from Rare can tell what's really going on...

  • @delpoi its so bad ppl are so ..... trollish ... we saw 3 sloops doing it, and we knew it not gonna work out well for them... so we jumped in... maybe it is the age or that i grow up with co-op games, and i used to play with my Dad Quake und Unreal and Warcraft 3 over LAN ... maybe it is because we grow up with real LAN-Parties... i mean, 6 guys, 6 PC's, one Switch and ofc a basement...

  • @oxynator Ah yeas, LAN parties. Good times.
Playing with my son and my (at the time) lady-friend's kids with computers scattered throughout the house. For a family of noobs we did extremely well against clans on MOH Allied Assault. The youngest being my son at age 10 or 11 at that stage and besides myself, the oldest being her son at 16.

  • @sirliborius so i made a support-ticket with that question...I will post it here and maybe make a new thread so everybody knows for sure how it works...

IF I get an answer... but I believe in those guys!!

Ohh and all the DemoScene work ♥♥♥ .... just good old times! nice to see we have some real oldschoolrz around here... k33p i7 r3a1 ... can you remember how cool we was, speeling everything leet encoded ♥ Memories ♥

to all other, get me right: We did that stuff before it was cool and mainstream... as soon as the ESL-Wanna-Be-Pro-Gaming came up, we quit! i worked for Turtle Entertainment in Cologne, or better known as GiGA or ESL-Europe ... so i think i know what i'm talking about...

  • @oxynator I made quite a few maps for MOH:AA, SH & BT.
I have recently found an old HDD so I decided to upload my maps to the MOH:AAAA database. I only ended up uploading one old map then started making new ones again and uploaded those. I have only just left that community again to play this game.

The community is drastically dying but many are still playing it. The game went through a bad period where everyone was using cheats so I left but it has all been cleaned up now with user made cheat detection and the community are not only smart in introducing new things to the game (crossbow, landmines, etc) they are currently working on running the classic game on the U4 engine. If they success I dare say I will return again to make more maps with less limitations the Q3 engine allowed.
They are all very knowledgeable and extremely helpful if you'd like to get into creating mods.

The beauty about AA is it was so ahead of it's time yet it would run on just about any PC.
