the price is the same as for pre-ordering

  • I think the price should be lower, when you buy now, you will not receive a bonus as a pre-game

  • Almost all games have a pre-order bonus, to reward players that invest in the game before its official release. Overwatch did it with Noire widow, for example. Sea of Thieves also has exclusive loot for purchasing things like their controller or HDD.

Basically, they're rewarding players for doing extra, not withholding content from new players.

  • @sweetcalf942652 but always the price is reduced because the bonus is no longer available but here is the same price

  • @cyriljepan I'm not really sure where you're getting that information, I've never seen a games price reduced less than a month after release. Can you cite a source?

  • Only issue i have is that "The Black Dog" pack is widely available still from a few 3rd party sites, the price of which is fluctuating daily.
They are also selling regular copies of the game for the full price as it stands now. Thus making the "Exclusiveness" of the free content for preordering practically null and void.

It is still just bonus content given to us for free and afaik had no reflection on the price of the game preorder or not.

  • @sweetcalf942652 :DDDDDDDDD omg logically I get something else for pre-order, so the price is high then the price is lower because you will not get a bonus! it is so everywhere

  • @cyriljepan Lol, I understand what you're saying, but that's not how it works. No part of the price is attached to the Black Dog pack. It came free with the game if you preordered. All of the $60 that was payed was for the rest of the game. Now, the free bonus is not offered, and it's still a $60 game.

  • @cyriljepan Bruh, do you even business?

    It's a BONUS. It's free with purchase.

Do you walk into the local Taco Hut the day after BOGO 🌮 deal ends and complain about full price?!

    Com'on man!

    Get outta here.

    Ooooo I have!!! Pick me!!!

    BATTLEBORN

Dropped almost by half three weeks in.

    And...

    BRINK

    Did I win??

  • @theothervillain Thanks! Is there anything linking those price drops to preorder content? If I recall correctly they both saw a lot less sales than they wanted after release, and I think that could be the cause. And I do recall quite a few more games (probably somewhere in the thousands?) that didn't have the same issue, and didn't suffer a price drop.

(EDIT: Didn't battleborns price also drop within days of the release of Overwatch, a very similar much more anticipated game? Could that have something to do with it?)

  • @cyriljepan
Maybe you are referring to companies how don't can address a lot of players and have to use steam or big retailers to reach a broad mass of consumers. Microsoft don't need those.

Oh definitely. I wasn't giving a reason for the price drop, I was just saying it happens, usually due to sales.

You are also correct. Battleborn's failure probably had a lot to do with its similarities to Overwatch (interesting sidenote, a bunch of the Battleborn characters are in Ready Player One).

Brink failed because it couldn't handle the server load. I loved the game, probably one of the most original in a long time but it was damn near unplayable at times.

That guy wanting a price drop because he didn't get a pre-order is just silly.

Yeah, I don't think so. A pre-order bonus is just that .... A BONUS. You are being rewarded for purchasing early, you want a price reduction wait for a while. Nearly every company does this, none do what you suggest - special editions do not count as they are typically higher thatn the base game anyway.

  • @sweetcalf942652 On a related note I was curious and looked up an old review from Brink. Here is an excerpt...

"Brink is about two or three updates from being one of my favorite shooters of all time, but I'm not reviewing the game I want it to be. I'm reviewing the game that it is, and what it is something just short of being the awesome experience that I want"

Remind you of any other game...🤔

  • @theothervillain Kirby Super Star.

  • @sweetcalf942652 Wasn't what I was thinking but...🤔 🤣 Ha

If you would educate yourself about those games and its history you would know why they get reduced so fast.

Indeed. Perhaps you should read the rest of my replies.

Education is a two way street 😘

  • @theothervillain had to rewrite my comment because i overlooked you with someone else, but my comment still stands brink and Battleborn where reduced because the playerbase was dropping so fast and competition was to strong while publishers didn’t care to hold on to them.

Also it was before „games as service“ were a thing, again educate yourself first history is already written.

Also comparing Battleborn with Overwatch is just wrong the game shares one thing, the cartoony looks, thats just another point where the game had a rough time because people like you ASSUMED its a bad Overwatch clone while its completely different.

Hmm, as I said to the other guy...I was just giving examples of games that dropped prices in less than a month. At no point was I saying a price drop is warrented for not having pre order content, actually I said the opposite.

It's cool if you didn't completely read to get the context. Just save the snarky comments till you get all the information. Nothing worse than adding ingredients to the soup and not know the flavor. Makes for a disgusting meal.

Also, what should I "educate" myself about? Games as a service doesn't really seem to have anything to do with this conversation. Pretty sure Battleborn was out post that talk and Brink was before so exactly what time period are you trying to narrow down to make this argument work?

Oh I missed that edit. Nah, I have both games. It was much more than cartoony graphics. It was a team objective based hero shooter. Similar enough for people to have a strong preference for one and neglect playing the other. No one was comparing Battleborn to One Piece Burning Blood that came out the same month with similar graphics.
