Unable to use "use" bug + workaround

We jumped server and three of the four crew couldn't use "use" (X on controller) for many tasks (load cannons, steer ship).
This bug seems to be a problem with the gun, when you switch through inventory items the gun doesn't appear to other players (you can see it though), only the gun (not cutlass) has this behaviour.
If you go to armoury on the ship, use works there and if switch the gun to another one, you get full 'use' functionality back, even if you switch back to the previous weapon. This is verified by other players now being able to see the weapon being held again.
