Lets be honest for a moment?

  • @Rare-Employee @Global-Moderators @Founder @Insider

Ok so can @Rare please give us some information about what's going on?

I mean if we are being honest for a moment.
Rare have to acknowledge that there is a lack of content.
That we have no meat to the bone in this game.

I find it kind of disconcerting that no official statement is made regarding all the voiced opinions that this game is lacking content.

I throw the ball to Rare, what's coming and how long?
    Cheers!

  • Bruh, the game has been out for like 1½ week, I keep seeing people complaining about lack of content. Are you Pirate Legend yet? You can't complain about "content" when you're not even in the end-game of the current available one.

Obviously they'll add alot of stuff, why wouldn't they, they got SO MANY OPTIONS about what stuff to add, but nobody has patience for it to arrive. Get off their a***s and enjoy what's here instead of wondering what's to come.

  • @jonesolsen Pirate Legend is not content, it's just a waste of time. The fact that this many people complain about it after only 2 weeks, should make it obvious that it's a problem.

  • @eph1zul Ofc it's content, do you unlock stuff by achieving it? Yeah, then it's content. Everything in the game currently is build around getting to Legendary Pirate. How can you say that's "not content".

  • @jonesolsen Because content would be if it actualy gave you anything. 1 set of clothes and a useless tavern isn't content. All you have is 3 type of fetch quests and PvP. If you're happy with the current state, then good for you. But accept that some of us have higher standards for a full priced triple A game.

  • @eph1zul Well if you really can't see that this game has alot of bones to add meat to, then you're just plain stupid. Content is coming just have patience, holy.

  • @jonesolsen We didn't pay for content that is coming, that is why they are implementing "Microtransactions". There's no need to call me stupid because you can't back up your claims.

  • @eph1zul
Playing video games is a waste of time. And who made you the sole authority on what is and what is not considered content?

  • @s1ictrck I think Rare will release some sort of roadmap right before the 2 week mark since a lot of the gamepass players will have to make their descision. I think even if people leave they will come back everytime new content is put in later on. The game is just too well made not to do so.
I myself am a gamepass player and waiting but I am only deciding if I will buy it now or later tbh. The game is great, all it needs is a bit more variety in what you can do in it .

  • Is this the first game you have ever played on or just after release?

Take a look back at the release of bf4 that was a total mess it took EA nearly a year to sort it out and they turned it into one of the best FPS games going.

Just give them time, personally considering the amount of player's that play the game the launch went fairly smoothly.

It is an open world game it's what you make it look at MC, 7d2d, unturned ect ect they all relay on the players imagination to make the game fun just get a good crew and let the banter flow.

  • Once players realised Destiny 2 was bare bones they left for good and it looks like that game has not recovered.

Maybe this will go the same way

  • I often worry that I'm emotionally isolating myself and losing my affection towards friends and family.

    ..........

    Oh... not that kind honesty.

  • @s1ictrck
this game is suppose to be a no hand holding create your own adventure, Granted i would love to see more content I dont want them to go overboard and turn it into the same old mmo style quest system. I would rather them set this game up with a pirate board where players create the content from within the game. a player wants to hold a race put it on the pirate board. Someone else wants to hold a scavenger hunt put it on pirate board another player wants help on a mission or find something put it on the board. Right now there is actually a lot of exploring people can do on islands and under the sea find all the different ruins and the paintings everywhere. I think we dont need more Developer created quests that would turn this into run of the mill game. Im tired of go to this person who sends you after this then go to so and so to be sent to kill this. I like the ability to hang out with friends and just come up with stuff to do on our own. like see who can shoot themselves out of a cannon and land where the mermaid will spawn. who can guess what island has treasure just sitting on it. Hide and seek and so on . Right now there is literally unlimited amount of stuff to do as long as you use imagination. The stuff i want to see added would be stuff to add to this..i.e
    Pirate board to create events
    Fishing
the ability to buy marker buoy cages, and other items.

Actually, you did pay for the content that is currently there and what is soon to come. If you did not feel what Rare explicitly stated would be in the released version of the game, why did you buy it? Can you point to a promo video or interview where they claimed to have significant content in the game that didn’t make to the final release? You bought the game they promoted, not the one you dreamed up in your mind. They have stated multiple times that more content is comming in the next few weeks (not days) that will be free.

  • @ghostpaw When questions were asked they were ignored, it's true they never lied. But they explicitly ignored what they didn't want to answer. The state of the game is poor, and I'm not talking about release. We all know releases have their issues.

Sure "DLC" is going to be free, but we get "Microtransactions" to support them. They should never have launched the game in it's current state.

Don’t remind me! OMG that game was awful at first. The servers were terrible and the released content was thin. It took a few weeks but they got it sorted out and it became our go to game for a couple of years. I don’t see SoT getting that kind of player base, but I do like what I am playing so far and what they have promoted in the near future.

Once players realised Destiny 2 was bare bones they left for good and it looks like that game has not recovered.

What's actually insane to me is that Destiny 2 is the absolute poster child for exactly what happens when you put a game out there that has that, you know, "Games As A Service" dream, but only provide enough content to push people through that honeymoon period and then everyone just falls off a cliff.

If you look at just how much work Bungie has done (and continues to do), you realize just how badly they painted themselves into a corner. And if you're paying attention, you see that cliff that they went off, and you make it a point to steer away from that.

    The process is simple:

    1. Open and honest communication with your community
    2. A Content road-map. Sorry, there's no way around that -- if you don't have one, and you're a GaaS game, you will lose in the end. How is this not understood?
    3. Pro-consumer attitude. Look at Digital Extremes with Warframe. Look at how CD Projekt Red continues to get players to adore them; they're just honest, and don't take advantage of their players, and they win.

    Instead we have:

    1. Tight-lipped developers
    2. No roadmap
    3. Nobodies pre-order content is even being taken care of (But I promise you the MTX store is totally on track)

It's such a shame because, you know what? Sea of Thieves is actually a really cool game. There's not much there, yet, but the potential is. What a shame that Rare is slip-sliding down Bungie's path, and so soon, and even with their example available for all to see.

  • @eph1zul
"The state of the game is poor"
The game looks better than anything that came out in the last couple of years, runs absolutely flawless and I encountered 2 glitches in 50 hours of playtime. Technically, the state of the game is amazing, especially considering the state other games get released in these days.
Maybe thats where all the resources went instead of tacking on content.

Sorry, but just because the devs did not put in the "content" you seem to be the sole authority on, does not mean the game is in a poor state.

  • @eph1zul You dodged my question. If you were not happy with what they EXPLICITLY stated would be in the game, then why did you buy it? They were clear about what we were getting, and even clear about what occurred when you reach legend. Most of the griping I see is that the game didn’t also contain a lot of pipe dreams players had THAT WAS NOT mentioned in the promo materials.

  • @rutta said in Lets be honest for a moment?:

Once players realised Destiny 2 was bare bones they left for good and it looks like that game has not recovered.

Maybe this will go the same way

Doubtful, Destiny 2 removed half if not more of the content from the original Destiny and has continued to change the story already laid forth in Destiny 1 to cater to their needs of Destiny 2. THAT is why Destiny 2 has lost its player base.

People don't realize this game isn't not about obtaining this and that or doing this quest or that quest. It is about joining into a game with your friends and having fun however you tend to make the fun. That's how I always described this game to my friends throughout the alpha. This games best moments are made while playing with friends and some off the wall epic thing happens. Which is exactly why so many of us love this game, is because we are drawn to those types of moments and don't know when the next one will happen or what it will be.

  • @s1ictrck They don't have to do anything. This is clearly how they wanted the game to be. If you don't like it, walk away. I don't think it's enough content, so I walked away. The only metric that is of interest to Rare right now is the number of players. If they see a substantial drop in playtime they will change it. If numbers stay the same (or even go up, like from day 1 to day 7 from 1 million to 2 million) they won't do anything.

So if you're not happy, show them. By not playing the game. And then we'll see if enough people are not happy with the game. Right now it's only a vocal part of the forum that is angry, but we don't know if we are even 10 % of the player base.

  • Patience. Goodness, the game has the foundation to be a great game. Just give them some time. Also, $60 dollars isn't a ton of money for a game that takes years to create.

I think it might because they are open about the problems in the game and are willing to hold there hand up when they drop the ball.

  • @ghostpaw I didn't, I cancled my pre-order because I knew this would happen. I'm on free game pass. But that doesn't mean I don't want this game to succeed. Your blind fanboi attitude wil not help with improving anything.

@Nebenkuh State of the game hasn't got anything to do with graphics or core mechanics. They are fine and no one is saying they're not. The foundation is good, it's the building that's c****y.

  • @eph1zul
Fair enough. The alleged lack of content or amounts of fun to be had are subjective criticisms that I understand. It's just that "the state of the game" is often associated with technical issues that are clearly not present here.

  • I don't actually see the issue. The game has got few types of missions that much is true, it also has forts and pvp which is pretty much it.

But I'm enjoying the hell out of those features. It's well polished and I'm nowhere near getting bored of it. It's an incredible game that seems to be only limited by the users concept of what is fun or not. Rare is working on content as they had said months and months ago, they are also working on bugs and whatnot as any normal game developer would.

The pirate legend stuff IS content as it is the end-game content which no-one is at yet, albeit that guy who got boosted to it. Sure it has two skins for achieving it but it's no different to getting a golden gun skin in CoD games when you hit a high level. People don't cry about that, it's content and they love it. This is no different...

All I can see are people being too impatient for the content to be made even though they have not done the content that is already out.

People cry about content all the time however, pretty much every MMO has had these threads and they are much much larger projects with much bigger teams and a huge budget in comparison.

Hang on... your annoyed over a game that your trailing for free?

Your complaining about something that you don't even own. If you don't like the game or don't feel it is worth you investing in it then just move on. Come back in a few months and maybe you will be satisfied.

Do not however try and cause bad vibes in a community that you do not wish to be a part of.

Sorry, but if you don't own the game then you don't really have any grounds to complain on whether or not there is content.

That is just my own opinion however, which I appreciate may be somewhat controversial.

  • @rainbowspace770 As a potential customer I would assume I'm more valuable then someone who already bought the game. Also, I notice you only joined us a day ago. So you're either a troll account or someone new. If you're new, wait until you played a few more hours.

  • @jonesolsen we have every right to complain!!!!!
Alot of people have paid triple A game money for this.
What have we recieved in return, a lack in every department! (Minus the aesthetics, water looks amazing)
So yes, people want to know how rare have justified the £/$60 price tag.
Especially when you've got other titles coming in the near future with 10 times the content for half the price. (Talkimg about state of decay 2 at £/$25)
So asking exactly what weve payed for is everyones g******n right.
Don't think asking for a road map is a particularly unfair request.

Well I do like the game I just want to do more then 3 mission to SLOWLY earn gold.

Yes am not playing atm my friends ar not ether.

I see some in this thread it is all about imagination.
Well we payed for a game if I needed this much imagination we can play D&D. lol

I see someone saying Pirate Legend is content it is not.
Except for the hideout there is the same quests.
    And a couple of skins.

I see someone saing go explore, yes did that found some amazing stuff. But there are no rewards if skins are progression I should earn gold for finding a hidden underwater cave on a uncharter island I randomly stop to explore.

Its nice but sad to see that am not alone in the more content boat.

It whould be nice to hear from Rare are they always this silent and unresponsive?

And lets be honest here on what we have.

    • 3 Missions, the animals locations and riddels change a litle.
    • We can explore a rich butiful world, with no reward for doing so.
    • We can fight players, but most dont have loot on them as its low reward for getting them.
    • Skull Forts atleast here we get some real content, a PvP contested loot horde full og deadly skeletons. (They seem fewer and fewer.)
    • And lets not forget the skins that you can buy for the small amount of gold you get for the 3 missions.

    Did i forget anything.

Clearly we have to litle content.

  • I agree. There's definetly a lack of content. There's a lack in very much things.
Its NO excuse, that the game has just released. Because THIS is the fault.
It has the amount of content I'm expecting from Early-Access titles.
But not the content of a RELEASED full price (70€) title.
Sometimes I'd like to play alone... But unfortunately, alone this game is soooooo ridiculously boring :(
And this really makes me sad. Because there is so much potential in this game which is unused.

I'd love to hear an official statement from Rare.
I'd also like to know what exactly they are planning and on what they are working now.

  • @v**a-hombre

Sometimes I p*e in the shower.

I had issues with my account and had to create a new one. I've been around for a few weeks or so. That said it makes no difference.

You speak a truth in that you are a valuable potential customer but then I assume t Microsoft have already paid them for you using the Xbox pass to play it. Devs need to be paid for their work and the Xbox pass doesn't pay for all the games you get to play.

I don't know the business model so I'm just assuming.

  • @sardukar1234 I hear you been trying to join some random and ussely they don`t talk.

Don't help, do there own thing or just f it up for everyone in some way.

Its really sad this game could be so good.

  • @tine-sionnach I agree I don`t want them to make this into a vanilla MMO.

But I do want more meaningful content.

Like I want to earn more gold for my voyages, I want to discover hidden places and find treasure.

And am not going to play hide and seek in a pirate game, come on man get a grip you are really pushing it there. LOL
