Scuttle, Scuttle, Scuttle...

  • I've seen a lot of people complaining about being spawn camped and chased by one ship for hours or constantly having to deal with one crew. The most simple and easiest solution is to scuttle your ship NOT once, NOT twice, but three times.

Currently a lot of the animosity that is felt by a part of the comunite is felt through rough PvP experiences. I hope with this information to help share what I do playing solo when in a pickle, and what you should do too.

Scuttleing a ship is done currently to get out of a spawn kill situation, or to reset the ship to get new supplies. These are both ligitimate stratagies, but I use the scuttle ship option to find bottles, quick chests/gunpowder barrels, and to get to the other side of the map very quickly.

An example was that yesterday while playing I had a bothersome sloop attempting to help alive some of the chests I had on board, im sure he was just trying to hlep share the load of carrying these heavy chests, but he did not pass my cannon's litmus test and had to take a little swim. So I went to turn in those chests only to find that the helpful pirate was on his way again, so I scuttled the ship and teleported to a new location. On this small island I loaded up and scuttled the ship again, and loaded up at the new island where I found a message in a bottle that had 6 X Marks the spots at Cannon Cove so I scuttled once more and spawned closer to the island this time and found an Elegant Flagon on the shore, went to cannon Cove and filled up my ship with all the goods I could find, and turned them in safely after taking this fantastic pic of all my loot for proof.

Now why am I telling this long and seemingly pointless story? Well I wanted to explain how I used the scuttle ship option to get from one side of the map to the other in 5 minutes, away from the other sloop that was bothering me, AND managing to turn the situation into a beneficial situation for myself with all the loot I got from doing it. So if you ever find yourself dealing with an angry sloop/galleon and don't want to change servers, just keep scuttling your ship until you are on the other side of the map, out of harms way of that Galleon.

This will not work 100% of the time, but it will be better than constantly running/trying to fight people who are trying to mess with your experience. If you don't learn anything from this, learn this at least; if something keeps going wrong, and you keep doing the same thing expecting it to work, IT ALMOST NEVER WILL. So try something crazy, do something dangerous, find that one option that no one would do and do it yourself. Because who knows, it might mean the difference between becoming pirate legend or remaining a poor bilge rat for life.
