Pc vs Xbox graphics...xbox wins!

  • so i have a good pc, can run everything on max @ 4k 60fps
and i have a xbox one x, and this game is crossplay/cross buy

so when i wana chill out ill jump on the consol and play in bed

but the graphics comparison between pc at max settings and xbox is huge

xbox just looks so much better at 4k, HDR

running at the exact same settings, and even link up to my same 4k HDR tv on the pc, i cant replicate those amazing visuals on the xbox. WHY

ps - i absolutely hate xbox, i only bought it to play sunset overdrive (good game, go buy it)

anyway I'm a PC elitist, but I'm willing to accept that xbox hands down runs over pc in the graphics on this game

  • 30 fps , how is even better to pc?
i play this beauty in 4k 60 fps at mythical detail xD trust me, no console can reach that kind of beauty.

  • @orsosilvano i didn't mention anything about the fps cap, I'm talking about the graphics

sure i believe you and many other people can also play this at 4k on mythic and yes it does look great. not going to argue against that.

but xbox one x at 4k HDR is a way better by a long shot.

please don't try to argue or disprove this if you yourself haven't compared the 2 side by side

  • Hello, @Moogle-Mogg

As a pc elitist, I must protest!

144hz screens, I like my fps high!

    Sacrebleu! ^^

  • You bought an X Box one X to play an Xbox One game released 3 and a half years ago that plays at 900p 30fps and doesn't have an X1X patch?

Yeah, I call bullplop or just really really really big waste of money.

Might want to try ordering a cab or an uber the next time you want to go from your living room to your bedroom. It'll cost you less.

  • I've not seen the xbox version but I'm running at a buttery smooth g-sync locked 120 fps 1440p Mythic on a 1080ti and it is astounding.

I'd trade the extra resolution for the fps, even if it's not a twitch title that really needs the extra frames

  • In my experience, HDR makes a lot more impact than resolution. I bought a 4K HDR OLED, and it wasn't the extra pixels that were jaw dropping.

There's all sorts of reports that HDR PC monitors look a bit funny unless you're specifically using an HDR app as well - the reason being that you don't exactly want 1000 nits of brightness blasting out at you from an Excel spreadsheet, so they mess with it.

As a PC player, I'll be interested how this gets solved.

Not a lot of us can do that. So, I think you as the one who started it all, should give us screenshots both from your PC and your xbox just to illustrate what you are talking about.

  • @ersatz-nihilist

Interesting, tbh I've never had a hdr monitor or TV to play on so perhaps I just have no idea that HDR would make to image quality.

Can't say it's a priority for me right now, but I'll bear that in mind next time I buy a screen

  • @moogle-mogg A game made for Xbox is optimized for Xbox? The world is ending!!!!

  • @boxcar-squidy It absolutely shouldn't be a priority. If my TV got stolen or I broke it while staggering around on the grog and didn't want to replace it, I'd absolutely be able to live without the feature, but it genuinely is impressive.

I don't think any HDR monitors are out in the wild yet, I was just reading about impressions of the ones in development.

right, 4k and HDR make a huge difference, esp on a OLED panel

i don't know why everyone is getting all there dicks hard saying they have 4k 144hz blah blah blah

as i said, i have a 4k montior and HDR tv, also a g sync monitor at 165hz with everything on mythic super smooth
again, xbox is hands down better in the visual department

until pc can handle 4k HDR content that consols can do, then this is going to win until then

  • I play on an XBox One X using a 55" 4K TV, and the SoT graphics are simply awesome, especially the sea. I have a PC too that can play the game easily, but I prefer the console as I can play it whilst relaxing in my armchair. :-)

  • The x is very pretty to look at, but the pc does edge it out.

My wife plays on her 60 with the pc, 4K max settings and I play on my 65 with the X.

While they are close, the pc has better AF, frames and draw distance.

  • I play mine on an old black and white set in the cupboard under the stairs with a coat over my head just in case anyone sees me.
I might have let out a small 'aaar' the other night but I think I got away with it.

  • @lord-trunky
I was seriously thinking about making another account just so i could upvote this post twice!

  • @moogle-mogg and then OP finds out every cross play game on the windows store is the EXACT same game as its counter part microsoft did this so they eseentially only have to make the game once. Nice try.

yeah no problem, i was going to but servers are down atm. i fully plan to back up my words with proof trust me.

so when servers go back up ill compare the side both on the exact same 4k HDR tv with pc running everything on max

Hold on a mo...how will I, and my fellow black and whiters, catchy name I know, be able to tell the difference?

  • @lord-trunky YOU GOTTA BELIEVE!

  • @moogle-mogg it technically cant look any better if you're running it at the same settings across the board there is no technical difference between the xbox one x and the pc because its the same exact game. PC didnt get a port or something of sea of thieves the whole reason every microsoft exclusive has cross play of some form or play anyhere is because of the windows 10 store and them only having to make the came for one single platform with complete parity.

    HDR

  • @moogle-mogg which im sure pc has aswell its probably just bundled into some of the settings you tone down without it being a manual option to toggle.

@moogle-mogg which im sure pc has aswell its probably just bundled into some of the settings you tone down without it being a manual option to toggle.

I'm totally open to that being a possibility and if its then then i will change this post and then say the PC version is better.

but from my experience with working with HDR on pc, you need to enable the HDR option n the monitor resolution window screen. but it just looks terrible for pc and/or its just not working

  • @moogle-mogg its been like that with most games i play on pc as well, but when i played ark is when i noticed i didnt have nearly the options i did graphics wise as i do from the steam version so i looked on the internet and found all the pc/xbox cross play games are essentially the same exact game and thats the whole push microsoft has with the windows 10 store and the "ease" of making the game for 2 platforms one time. If i can find the article i read stating it i will post it for anyone who is interested to read if they want. Might not be until tomorrow. Id be shocked to learn that xbox one x is the only one with hdr though as pc can more then handle hdr lol

  • @moogle-mogg i hope you're right im looking forward to the screen shots when you post them. Maybe that would mean pc would get HDR at some point if it doesnt already because i cant tell if its on or not when i play i just assumed it was because of what i read.

  • @joeysav I'm not sure there are any HDR monitors out for PC yet. This isn't the first time I've heard people talking about the difference HDR makes either, I'm starting to think that they might be telling the truth. It's not that PC can't do better graphics than an xbox, just that in this case perhaps the xbox might have certain advantages as of right now.

Either way the game is beautiful on both platforms.

  • The only advantage the Xbox One X version has over the PC is HDR support, and that is an artificially advantage. If Rare/Microsoft wanted, they would add HDR to the PC version.

The same HDR TV that works on Xbox One X would work on PC as well.

Maybe Rare are waiting for Microsoft to release the new creator's update that promises improved HDR support via Windows 10. Microsoft's current OS level support for HDR is poopy.

  • congratz you have a special xbox that is diffrent then all others boxes, no one else can make comment like that and mean it :P

  • About the HDR, sure HDR is nice and all, but I'll personaly take my 60 plus fps in 4k and having Gsync 144hz anyday of the week ^^ or even take it down to 1440p and having 100 to 120 fps

  • @moogle-mogg said in Pc vs Xbox graphics...xbox wins!:

so, wheres the comparison ? :D

  • PC will always win due to better hardware available... unless the developers makes it look worse on purpose.

  • Pound for pound consoles are always better, but PC wins when you've got money to waste. If you're going to invest $500 in gaming, An Xbox one X is a no brainer over a PC. If you have $2K to waste, than PC will be better. At least for a couple years. The thing is, console devs actually optimize their games and get better at optimization over the lifespan of the console. That means the best games usually come out at the end of the consoles lifespan. Whereas PC devs don't optimize, they just move on to more powerful hardware every 6 months which means over the lifespan of your PC you end up having to play games at lower and lower settings until your PC becomes an obsolete potato. Consoles are a great investment. PC's are for people with money to burn.

  • I play 4k mythical 144 fps. What are you on about child..
