If you were to drop a chest off at an island and left, to hide, how long does it take for it to depsawn? Has anyone tried this to see the timer? Or when your ship sinks with treasure on it how long do you have to go back and find your floating treasure?

My friend once dropped a chest and came back 20-30 minutes later. It was still there. Don't know how far he went but he was trying get away from a galleon.
