    I completely disagree. In the past couple nights of playing, almost everyone I stunlocked just ate it and hipfired me with the blunderbuss. You can simply wait for them to start hitting you, and as long as you won't die from the 3-hit combo, you are basically guaranteed to kill them since they are locked in place right in front of you.

  • @bkr-vasily , not really while the BB is a close range weapon it def not CQC, that role falls squarely on the cutlass, if you are trying to use the BB in the cutlasses range you are using it wrong, to me the BB is best used as a two shot kill weapon, by staying just outside of CQC range you can destroy a cutlass with a BB.

  • @bkr-vasily You can't move but you can still aim. Just aim at them while they are attacking you.

    so, don't get hit, by choosing the BB/Flintlock, you are choosing a playstyle that focuses on keeping people at range from you, BB vs cutlass, you should be keeping about 3-4 paces worth of space at all times.

  • @cpt-kazuto if you get hit from the side or something you just die. im not just watching them walk to me and hitting me idk maybe there is some logic behind it but it seems like the logic is "dont get hit and you wont die" but Rare did such a good job on the game i wont believe this mechanic will stay like this. nor do i think the sniper will have the trash stats that it has. tbh i dont think the sniper should even be in the game

  • I didnt get the chance to use the cutlass as much as I wanted in the scale test, can someone explain the stun lock to me please and what it does in various situations

  • @bkr-vasily You would die to their blunderbuss anyways if they're walking up behind you or something. In my experiences players still have a slight chance to aim around them while being slashed up for that wonder-shot with the blunderbuss. It's a very strict window, however.

  • @bkr-vasily not really, as at most you will get hit 3 times, and then you can runaway and get some range to reload/eat a banana/fire a shot.

  • @uvg-reign You can't move during the duration of a sword hitting you. You also get your turning/aiming slightly interrupted during each hit, but it's only brief, say 7-15 frames of a freeze during each slash on you. You can jerkily aim at someone and blunderbuss them while they are in view, or you can switch to your cutlass and start blocking the rest of the combo.

  • @cpt-kazuto if someone comes up behind you, the 1st thing you dont do is 180 sword swing. you just die its a shotgun its suppose to be devastating at close range the sword can also be nasty close up thats cool too im not arguing that what i am arguing is that the stun locking mechanic has to be tweaked

  • @bkr-vasily plenty of people that were vs me did it, im still not sure how, but for the love of gold it was annoying!!
    now if you get backed into a corner and someones attacking you with a sword, then yes you will most likely die, but if you're away from any walls/corners then yes you can run away, at least thats what it seemed like to me.

  • @uvg-reign after getting hit itll slow you then itll stun you. my opinion is the utility it brings is too strong so my answer to that would be nerf that attack speed and increase the damage delt per swing. and maybe remove the stun completely

  • My experience of deck duals were generally a shootout on the opposite sides of a mast.

    Nerfing the cutlass will also inherently/inadvertently buff the blunderbuss, and the blunderbuss (from my experience) is already the 'go to' weapon of choice for most the players I came across in tight spaces. Just throwing it out there :)

  • @uvg-reign i agree the BB is strong and the best one to use. maybe just re-balancing needs to be done

  • @bkr-vasily Seeing as it's a pirate game with a bunch of people on small decks of ships.. i'd much rather see a bunch of bunny hopping pirates in a sword battle at least i can imagine they are doing dodges and acrobatics, instead of a bunch of dumb one shotting blunderbuss'. IMO the swords "downside" is it needs to get to you....) the blunderbuss is the only weapon without a weakness, and instead needs it's reload time increased as it has no downside.

    *Edit if you are holding a ranged weapon against a guy with a "OP" sword.... then why didn't you pull out a sword as he was coming to you... because you are bad with it? Or you really think the gun is more powerful and aren't being truthful.

  • @bkr-vasily If anything, I think the guns need a small nerf in reload speed. The sword should be the primary weapon in pvp. It has enough depth in its mechanics to create some epic sword fights and it rewards the more skilled player. The guns are meant to be shot once and then the rest of the battle is with the good ol'cutlass.

  • @zokraitz i use pistol and BB the argument here is the utility you get from the sword the stuns and the slows are too strong and needs to be toned down

  • @cavalier-gam maybe make sword a permanent item in your inventory and have a choice of 1 other weapon ?

  • @bkr-vasily well, the blunderbuss is to strong, i have to hit you 5 times with the sword, you turn aim and 1 shot me.... yours blunderbuss has quite the stun and slow on it.... running with 2 guns... well you deserve to die IMO... if you had a sword you could block.

  • @bkr-vasily I think the Cutlass is nice the way it is, If it gets nerfed then sword play wont get used and we will only get gunned down. I like seeing players use the swords!

  • @jamiethe1egend the idea of swords has to stay in the game its what its all about but the perma stun is something that shouldnt be in the game and if it is you have to slow the attack speed of the sword

  • @bkr-vasily I think that swords are weak compared to the guns, I noticed that trying to get in close with a sword normally ends with a face filled of blunderbuss bullets and the eerie trip to the ferry of the damned.

    I think that sword play is fine how it is, all you need to do is pull out your sword
    block and on the 3rd hit, there is a chance to parry and hit them as they leave an opening. You can win fights this way.

    Don't bring 2 guns, bring a cutlass and a gun.

  • @bkr-vasily I know what your point is. Maybe don't let them get to you by using those 2 guns? they need to get to you and hit you 5 times while you are stunned for 2 seconds. maybe have a gun toting friend watch your back when you are missing your shots?

    If you didn't have 2 guns on with poor accuracy on both when they got close you could have pulled out your "OP" stunlocking sword and blocked and stunned them first... See mate you're not understanding my point is the problem.

    Oh, and by the by... the stats have nothing to do with any of this.

  • @jamiethe1egend you are missing the point.. if you get hit by a sword regardless of what you have you cant move your MS is slowed then you get stunned the only way to counter "and this is a long shot" is to pray you have them center mass and you also have the BB out and you 1 tap them. The other one is to try and switch to the sword but if you take the 2nd hit you cant even swap weapons.

  • @bkr-vasily I would use a shotgun behind a player, 1 shot is more than the many sword swings it takes. I had a guy come at me from behind with a sword and I turned around blocked and killed him so it's all about skill. The sword feels good and the blunderbuss feels good. I've had plenty of sword lungers come at me to be 1 shot blown away by my blunderbuss. And ive taken out guys with a blunderbuss with my sword, they miss and i take advantage. The knockback stun is due to the player being knocked into a wall, maybe watch where your standing and learn to block. Honestly the game is skill based and everyone can use any tool so nobody is unbalanced. The only thing I would like removed is any aim assist on the sword.
