Tired of all the negativity season 19 rantings and YouTube s

  • As someone who has been hourglassing since season 19 this season is amazing, one of my
Favorites infact. For many players hourglass isn’t part of sea of thieves, it is sea of thieves, looking at you captain roach. Finally this game mode doesn’t feel half baked, it’s enjoyable and comparable to simple requing a match of marvel rivals after a loss.
Pvers don’t realize how much this benefits them to have the sweaty community mostly sealed away in pandoras box for a entire season or more, go watch cosmic tides video on hourglass to see what I mean. Why are we crying so much about a lost kraken quest when its quikly going to be as forgotten as season 16s reaper quest, hourglass is not like this evermatch is different and you don’t know what to expect. It’s a chance to improve your skills so try it if you haven’t yet. Then we got the last ship standing which im very excited for as I started in season 9 and never got to do arena.

  • This new update will be forgotten just as well and become the normal, and down the road...the complainers will resurface with more issues that either never got resolved still around or demand further adjustments to fix things that aren't really the problem.

Nobody is happy. Nobody is a winner.

  • I still feel hourglass is not like a one shot pve quest feature to be forgotten in a season. Hourglass is more like fortnight or any other competitive game. It’s a loop that keeps enjoyers coming back. I most certainly will not forget these improvements and am thankful for them.

  • @huntermark88 Agreed, this time the devs really hit the nail. This season might serve as a reminder that more isn't necessarily better, and there should be a balance between the quantity and the quality of the future updates.

  • @huntermark88 the thing is, alot of us are getting tired with broken promises and underwhelming and or content

Partially i get it, there is just one team working on all the seasons and they pulled all others away to do bigger more meaningful content however especially someof us vets have seen and heard it all before.

They move to a different update/working cadence, we see it and we warn them it is not sustainable either from a working perspective (when they seasons + adventures + mysteries for instance) or from a delivery perspective ( 3 act system for instance). Every time we warn them either in insiders or on the posts they make detailing the changes but they stubbornly keep marching on and subsequently fall on their behind.

Thats why their is this much moaning now.

Then their are promises for season 18, which get nuked and especially season 19 is not a season, its not anything season worthy…. Not because its an hourglass update or anything i mean the changes are actually good, however all these changes that got implemented now where responses to issues that people where VERY vocal about back when the original hourglass update (season 8) was still in development during the insider cycles. And they where handwaved away as so many things are by them. And now 3! Years later this becomes something to rave about ? No this should be stuff worked on in between seasons and added when ready.

But hey luckily they had this because otherwise season 19 would literally be nothing, all the actual promised content got put on hold indefinitely except for last ship standing that is literally the only feature that was made explicitly for season 19.

  • the thing is, alot of us are getting tired with broken promises and underwhelming and or content

A lot of us know what they can and cant do. Promises are often broken but at least they are still giving Free content and attempting to please the very small group of people. (since people keep saying this game is losing players) :P

Players need to learn, Dev will make these grand promises and never fullfil them because maybe the tech wasnt there and they figured they could still do it. Maybe the demand wasnt all there? Who to say, frankly it the need and greed of the players and hounding for More more more more that makes it stressful to watch.

In the end of things. Game still the same, yet players want it to be something else. :/
thank goodness they havnt changed it to suit those players.

  • @callmebackdraft

Creating a entire map arena for last ship standing is kinda a tall order and big deal man. A entire map dude.

  • @huntermark88 it is and it isnt, i have to see the actual map first but from what i gather there will be no real islands, just rocks with some decorations on it.

And again promises made time and time again and promises broken time and time again it wears people out.

And next to that i think in all fairness alot of the people calling them out and criticising them are doing so from a place of love for the game, we want to see the game thrive, and no, not every season or update can be massive. But there is a reason that “missing the mark” has become a meme.

  • @huntermark88

A friend of mine actually avoids pvp at all costs, and goes to an extreme length just to avoid it. If she digs up an X on one island, she'll sail along the perimeter of the map to go to the next. She never raises an emissary while sailing. When she's done with voyages, she'll sail to an outpost, raise gold hoarder and only sell treasure related to that faction, then lowers that flag to raise something else. She was with us one day when we used another player's sloop to sink a stacked brig, and her comments/attitude towards us was sheer disapproval at what we did. There's nothing we can do to convince her to try pvp, as this is how she enjoys playing, and that's okay. For her, having the kraken/orb removed meant 100% of the content she enjoys, gone now, and she's not bothering with season 19. Everyone plays however they wish, and for her, her complaints are justified.

  • @Huntermark88 I’m with you on being tired of the negativity, especially the Season 19 doom‑talk and the YouTubers who, honestly, have a complicated relationship with this game. They rely on Sea of Thieves for income, yet some of them spend a lot of time talking it into the ground.

That's not my relationship with the game. I play on weekends with my family on a Galleon, and I solo sloop a couple evenings a week to unwind. We enjoy the new Adventure content, chip away at commendations, and try to "get good" against the PvP sweats. It's a healthy mix, and it’s fun.

The YouTuber crowd is a very small, very loud subgroup. They're not representative of the broader player base. I genuinely don’t understand why some of them push the "death spiral" narrative so hard. I think they get something out of the game that most regular players don't - and that’s fine. I enjoy a lot of their content. But for me, it’s a game. If Sea of Thieves ever "dies," I lose a special activity I share with my family. For them, it's their income. Maybe that pressure is what's twisting their perspective.

Honestly, they might rediscover the magic of the game if they played it the way the rest of us do - without needing every session to produce content or drama.

  • @europa4033

I understand that the removal the kraken event sucks but also understand the pvp focus on this season on hourglass has created a sealed pandoras box effect. High seas pve players should notice a significant less amount of sweaty players coming after them right now. It should be a breath of fresh air for pve players and allow them to actually play without getting chased by that sweaty reaper brig.

Oh very true. Season 20 will have a similar effect. It's just...no matter what we do, we can't convince her to dip her toe in pvp. We had a guy in our guild in World of Warcraft that would never raid no matter what. He just liked going around picking herbs to make healing potions, damage potions, alchemy, etc. and made everything for the guild. We'd give him gear and weapons to thank him for what he did for us (we always had what we needed thanks to him), but some people enjoy the fringes of a game and play how they like. Sadly, there's no new PvE voyages for her, but it is what it is.

  • I honestly don't care, except that I was expecting DB HG faction, because it said "turn the hourglass once more" and they had a new faction logo and color. Turns out season 19 was just a big ole FOMO and bug fix pie with a GoF reskin that is frankly miss leading

  • I 100% agree. People are talking smack because there wasn't some flashy new content drop but that's silly to me. I have been dying for so many changes to the game, like the emporium refresh specifically. The fact that they are FINALLY making changes to hg, which has gone pretty much untouched since it first came out years ago, is a HUGE WIN for the game!

It's a change that appeases both sweatier, pvp oriented players, and also makes it easier for more casual players to enjoy hg! Getting your hg curses is a goal that all players have, whether you are inexperienced and new, or have thousands of hours. It's one of the big features of the game. The updates make winning AND losing faster and you can smoothly get back into it after a loss, which is the a huge gamechanger. Fight Nights was so much more enjoyable than any long hg session I've ever done.

People need to see the forest for the trees. If they are finally changing the infastructure of the base aspects to the game, then they are investing in themselves for the long term and it makes me very happy. I'd much rather this sort of update than a flashy but broken content update that I will complete in 2 days and then go back to being bored anyways.
