50k is way too high and I think its insane to think its justified.
The pricing structure is also stupid. 50 - 500 -1000 -2500 -50000. a 10x, 2.5x, 2x and then 20x increase. Genuinely who thought of this. You would imagine the increase be the same or go up at a flat rate, ie making the items cost 1k/3k/5k/7k/10k or something. Every other item is relatively nothing compared to the Sword and the Sword itself is stupidly unavailable.
You have people with 300million gold that don't have 50k doubloons. 0.001% of the playerbase is going to unlock this sword, which apparently is a bad thing according to the idea that ''we should return old cosmetics because barely anyone has them anyway''. It is insane to me that Rare finds a way to justify this sword being available to so little people, ie veteran players; while also spitting in the face of the same veteran players.
A good solution to this would simply be that you unlock them based on your historic doubloon count, as in all the doubloons you have ever made; not those you currently have on you. I would easily have over 50k doubloons right now If I hadn't multiple times in the past converted them to gold during gold and glories prior to Seasons. It was not a mistake to do that, nor was it a mistake to buy anything with doubloons prior.
I have also seen apparently they intend on doing a Doubloon event prior to the reset to help people grind out doubloons. This on its own defeats the entire point of having the items be commemorative for people that had previously earned a lot of doubloons. Ie if in the new event you can make 1k doubloons in a hour then it completely invalidates the value of the items as getting 1k doubloons used to be a lot of work. I would imagine if this does become the case the argument of 'the sword costs too much' will instead turn into 'the doubloon event defeats the point of the items in the first place'.
I would point out a player called Captain Ulric who has over 1 billion gold, as in 1,000,000,000. He has 110k doubloons, only double what you need for the new items. Cut that down that would mean around 500mill gold of selling loot equates to earning 50k doubloons. This is also a player that plays on alliance servers and has people invite him to crew before they sell their massive loot stacks so he can get the rewards from it. Even someone like this who afaik has the highest gold count publicly only has 2x the required doubloons for this sword.
I then also would point out the fomo aspect of this. They're re-adding old time limited items which would suggest they want to remove fomo, but in doing the doubloon reset they are adding fomo doubloon items, and post-reset they're doing fomo events to obtain items that won't be available again. If you haven't read the post; the items available for doubloons after the reset will rotate each time. For example the first event you can buy Item A, B,C, then the second event you can only buy D ,E , F. It doesn't just add new items to buy, it replaces the old ones, who knows when Item A will be available again. All of this combined genuinely just still shows Rare have absolutely no clue what the playerbase wants and more importantly shows nobody at Rare actually plays the game enough to understand how its played or who plays it.
