Cannon Sensitivity Option for Settings

  • Would it be possible to add an option to change the sensitivity of cannons and cannon movement?

On PC i can change the mouse sensistivity manually or use my mouse to switch between different mouse sensitivty options which will also change the cannon sensivity but I feel this is unjust for console players that i may play with.

Furthermore, it just feels like the cannon sensistivty is really slow on the average end of the mouse sensitivity setting, with it requiring like 4 or 5 drags just to get from one side of the ship to the other.

As a result I would like to suggest an option to decrease/ Increase cannon sensitivity

  • You should be using WASD to move the cannon for larger movements and the mouse for fine tuning aim.

I'd rather not use WASD, its more immersive to use the actual mouse. Using 2 different perohperals just to aim is pretty ridiculous too when other games use only 1

Not to mention ur comment does not take into account players who wish to increase sensitvity beyond the capabalities of the WASD keys or those using a controller

  • @red0demon0

This should 100% be a thing and it's crazy that it hasn't been added after 7 years.

One of the biggest gaps between controller MCs and KBM MCs is how smooth and intuitive it is to control cannons with an analogue stick.

WASD + mouse is so clunky especially for long range fights to really pinpoint your shots vs analogue stick.

A lot of games where you are piloting a vehicle with KBM, which is basically what a cannon is, use both for movement and aiming. Analog sticks allow parabolic movement, where you move faster with sharper deflection of the stick, which makes it more intuitive for piloting these kinds of vehicles with a single control.

They could add a cannon sensitivity slider which would let you move around faster with a mouse as you're suggesting but you'd lose the ability to make micro adjustments unless you switch the sensitivity back or through your mouse hardware.

  • @worst-tdmer Use a controller, it is available to all and easy to learn 😏

  • Cannons are not meant to be moved quickly; they are cannons!

  • Oh yes. Got to increase the speed of turning a "heavy" item so you can Aim faster...because this CoD.

  • @look-behind-you @BurnBacon

Nobody asked for cannons to be fast. Mouse should just be able to match what the max speed already is for WASD/Analogue stick.

You say this as a condescending joke (which is a really weird look for Rare/a mod responding to actual player feedback in a player feedback thread), but people actually do swap back and forth depending on role. They shouldn't have to, the fix is easy and doable.

They are also not meant to be moved so slowly that it takes 5 differentt mouse drags across the screen unless u use 2 hands to do what 1 hand could have done from the start. Leave the sensitivity to the player is what I think. Im also not saying to make it super fast where u zoom through when moving cannons, just make a sensitivity range. Also what's with the exclamation mark? where just having a discussion lol, settle down, it's not that deep

A vehicle like a tank, uses WASD keys to move the vehicle not the turret or cannon portion of the vehicle. All 1 player controlled ship games use WASD to move ship and mouse to move cannons. so what game do u see out there that moves the cannon using both keyboard andd mouse? Just seems like a silly idea for devs to implement games like that. Besides, does the game not already have a regular cannon movement ability and also a cannon aim down sight mechanic? Seems to me that already accounts for the microadjustment u spoke about.

  • @red0demon0 Correct, it's not that deep.... Cannons move slowly... 🤷‍♀️

  • @red0demon0 it's seemingly a long standing bug that it's so slow, if you lock the game to 15 fps it's way faster. It's fps based for some reason

  • They are also not meant to be moved so slowly that it takes 5 differentt mouse drags across the screen

I just sent this to a pc friend who plays. He has no clue what you guys are talking about.

2 at best but not 5 and they are using a cheap Walmart mouse. Along with using the WASD ( and no mousepad)

    Mystery here.

  • @worst-tdmer I have removed your comment as it's both a very subjective take and unnecessary. Please remember that volunteer moderators and Deckhands are also just players like everyone else.

  • @mopwieldinghedgehog

    Not unnecessary or subjective.

@Look-Behind-You isn't even trying to engage in good faith here in this thread. Not subjective because she is completely ignoring the points being made by the people she's arguing with.

Not unnecessary because one of Rare's biggest issues for years now has been community engagement (something they've admitted, and something you should know a lot about personally).

A moderator arguing in bad faith while making snarky comments at a genuine attempt to give player feedback is again, a really weird look for Rare as a whole and honestly should be spoken to.

  • @worst-tdmer I'll take a moment to address this, then I'll ask that the thread gets back on track, please.

You're reading it as snarky based on your own subjective expectations. I read it as a simple light hearted comment that - if it had been made by anyone else - you would not have thought twice about.

I'll remind you again, volunteer moderators and Deckhands are just that - volunteers. They are players like everyone else here. Only difference is they donate some of their free time to moderate forums (and some also other spaces) when needed. This does not disqualifiy them from partaking in any discussion nor does it ban them from making light hearted comments, having personal opinions or from expressing them. They are here as volunteer players, not as company official representatives.

It's very similar to driving a tank or flying a jet in Battlefield. If you're only using the turret to turn towards targets, you're going to be very slow. Turning the entire tank in tandem with the turret is much quicker. There is no way you can pilot a jet with just the mouse, you need the keys to make the big turns and changes in pitch. You use WASD to make the big movements and the mouse for fine tuning.
