Solution for hourglass supplies issue!

  • Recently, I have been thinking about hourglass and collecting supplies after losing a fight, and the general issue with supplies in general.

I have 2 main ideas to make starting the game much faster, with idea#1 benefiting all players, and #2 catering to HG play.

    Idea 1
Paying a flat fee to pre-stock the ship before the ship spawns/respawns would be optimal. perhaps for about 30,000 Gold, additionally locking the merchant shop and shipwright supply shop.

    Idea 2
simply cuing up for hourglass now spawns in a load of supplies on deck that are uniquely marked by the game, disappearing once the group stops representing their faction. if another crew in hourglass obtains the supplies, those supplies are now binded to that crew.

  • I believe they announced that they are looking into starting supplies, and the Last Sloop Standing event is going to have some kind of universal supply setup so everyone has the same, probably as part of those changes or to test changes for Hourglass before full implementation.

We'll need to wait and see what they have cooked up.

  • What exactly is the issue?
It’s after going over your supplies and once you “win”?
Any supplies your enemy has is either not enough to instant go another round or whatever.? So when you dive again, should restock to full?

But I don’t see that would be balanced in open world. If you win, your supplies are instant refilled. But what if a third part ship is near? Not fair to see you restocking during a fight.

Or what about those who spend time collecting special balls or throwing items? Those he knocked out of the barrels?

The issue is how long it takes to queue or requeue for Hourglass PvP because of the time needed to stock the ship. The developers recently mentioned in an update video that they’re working on something to address this.

I'm not sure what you mean by this.

I only ever said anything about getting free supplies when you vote up hourglass, and the supplies disappear if hourglass is lowered. if you sink with these supplies, the person who sunk you can now use those supplies-they don't magically disappear unless a crew is trying to cheese the hourglass for free supplies

But I don’t see that would be balanced in open world. If you win, your supplies are instant refilled. But what if a third part ship is near? Not fair to see you restocking during a fight.

ummm... where did you get this idea of winning giving a supply refill? all I ever said was raising hourglass at the beginning of your session gives free supplies, not voting up the war map or winning a game. the only supplies you can obtain for "free" would be from your opponent's floating barrels.

Or what about those who spend time collecting special balls or throwing items? Those he knocked out of the barrels?

still having an issue understanding you- the free hourglass supplies wont magically destroy anything you have collected, so players are free to collect extra weaponry in the emergent world. the starting supplies are really everything you would get if you bought everything from the merchant and shipwright, in a storage crate that appears on the deck of your ship. "Standard Faction Administered Supplies" if you will.
