Being a solo is not always bad and could be peaceful and fun at times but once you reach a point where you want to do higher level stuff in the game, that’s where the problem begins. When playing solo theirs is always going to be a disadvantage if you’re going up against a crew that has more than one player. As a solo sloop, everything that’s happening on the ship your responsibility only so lining up the canons, steering, patching up holes, adjusting sails and being aware of surroundings. While having even just one other person can make all that 50% percent easier for the crew since they can split the responsibility to their crew. Even tho there’s the option to play on safe seas, it’s not really the right option for people who would still like the fight other pirates and be rewarded the same loot amount and not miss any exclusive game content that is exclusive to the high seas. I personally would like to have a even battle ground where I could go up against other solo players and still enjoy everything the The Sea of Thieves has to give. That’s what I personally think but as a solo player it’s still really fun to play the game!

Solo mode is hard mode. The game is designed for group play.

but they've improved the game a lot in recent seasons for the casual solo player, so that's good.
Solo/sloop is popular. People say the "game is designed for a crew" stuff which isn't really the entire picture even though it's mostly accurate.
They wanted it that way but all along the way the popularity of solo/sloop has led to a lot of changes that were made specifically because of how popular it is in this game. It has earned its way at multiple points along the way.
If they are tinkering with ship speeds then they might be on the right course (depending on how it turns out)
Brig finally being acknowledged as OP for speed is a huge win for solos in random SoT adventure. Just a win on paper so far but still a win.
If they make ship speeds make sense for balance in actual gameplay (rather than messaging that doesn't line up with how the game actually plays) then that's going to change things for the better.
The one major issue that was dismissed for far too long is brig speed, this game will get a LOT better for most players if they stop rewarding players just for choosing the plaid speed ram vessel.

And thus, we will see groups of Solo forming mobs and going against other solos who dont wanna join or they were picked to be the "target" Which will bring us back to "4v1" :p
