Guild emissary 5 benefit

  • Problem: Every emissary gains a benefit for reaching grade 5 except guilds/sovereigns. Guuls have a lower multiple bonus. You're visible on the map. And you get no emissary voyage. There is no incentive to sail around with that grade 5. All the risk of a reaper 5 with none of the benefit. It's far better to sell, lower, and reraise.

Solution 1: Allow guild 5's to claim an emissary voyage for the faction of their choice. One single emissary voyage, once claimed blocks claiming one for a different faction.

    Or

Solution 2: Make a sovereign emissary "medley" style voyage that integrates the three factions in a single voyage. Not unlike an athena voyage, but smaller in scope and effort and without the second chapter.

Give guild emissaries a reason to keep that flag up and get a big payday for it if they succeed.

  • I agree and solid solutions

The game just doesn't have the pvp pressure it did when all the hoppers were chasing reapers around but every time I hit 5 on the guild I am in a fight not too long after, so there is some pressure there from the mark.

Not really worth the risk/interference in organic situations currently unless a guild specifically wants a fight or unless someone does what I'll do and kinda work in the 5 right before I sell, currently pretty easy to do with the skelly ship spawns.

  • Guild has a benefit in that it sells all loot types with bonus and with the efficiency from sovereigns harpoons

  • Does guild emissary grade 5 not give you a 2.5x multiplier like every other emissary? (My guild is still only level 5...)

  • @lordqulex I think it maxes out at 1.75x

  • Allow guild 5's to claim an emissary voyage for the faction of their choice

Nah, I say they have to do some of the top voyages from each Faction
Vault, Phantom Fleet & Lost Shipment.

Nope, it’s lower multiplier each tier with 1.75x being the max. I quit running guild emissary once I finished the flag raising commendations, which happened to be right when season 11 dropped, so I needed to start running company specific flags for the voyages anyway, to work towards 500 faster. The guild levels are just passive now and the only reason I play on guild ships is so we don’t lose captaincy when someone needs to get off.

  • @hiradc You kinda missed my point though. Why would anyone sail with a grade 5 flag any length of time?

GH / OoS /MA give you an emissary voyage that you lose if you lower. The quests aren't lengthy and the value is good so there is a risk / reward balance at play. People can choose to keep their grade 5 flag for an easy quest, easy loot, and therefore easy gold. Easier and faster than lowering and reraising.

Reapers get the benefit of seeing all emissaries on the map. They have a constant motivation to keep their grade 5.

Guikds have no motive to keep their grade 5. Yes, guilds have harpoons and take most loot. But those are benefits when you sell regardless of your emissary level, or how long you had a level. There is no reward for the risk of keeping a grade 5. The risk / reward balance for guilds is lopsided compared to all other emissaries.

  • @burnbacon that'd be a form of medky voyage. Which I did list as a solution.

  • @strangeness to be able to sell any loot you get at the max value. You absolutely can lower and reraise, if you don't like showing up to whole server then it offsets the risk.

Reapers don't get a quest at 5, they can see emissaries but honestly I find selling all loot and quickly of more value. It's nice if hunting for players but you can check tables then check out the hotspots and find players without much issue

  • @strangeness Don't forget that harpoons and the whole Sovereign platform aren't guild exclusive either. It's not exactly a guild benefit since they'll happily work for you as MA, GH, OoS or Athena.

Something would be nice for Grade V. I'd probably be happy enough with removing the map marker at Grade V, I just don't see the purpose.

Sure there is. Its a good way to get some natural PvP going on, actually its one of the best ways to lure in people for some dynamic PvP action. There is of course the hourglass battles but, those are planned and you know when and how it will happen. The uncertainty of sailing with a PvP beacon up is exciting.

However i do agree that the level 5 multiplier should be x2,5 as the other factions.

Actually it's lower by design than the others since you can literally turn in 100% of treasure from all trading companies except the Reapers (even fish) for that sweet, sweet bonus gold. Additionally, the Sovereigns make the selling process blindingly fast and significantly reduces the risk of someone rolling you for your loot, and they're available at all seven Outposts all across the Sea of Thieves. So they give you a lower max multiplier in lieu of all that convenience.

Sure the Reapers accept 100% of all loot, too (except fish) and they have the full 2.5x multiplier, right?? But they don't have (and shouldn't ever have, in my humble opinion) an expedited process for unloading and turning in your loot. It's still a slog to manually take everything off your ship a piece at a time and run it into the Hideout individually. Plus, it's a hotly contested single turn-in location in the middle of the map that you are very visible at when you're selling. They deserve the full trading company multiplier for that risk (although your emissary value for the ledger increases slower than the other four companies since you CAN turn in everyone's else's loot in a single place). It's all about balance.

  • and we are years further now, and they still didn't do anything for Guild level 5, which is really stupid and another stupid thing THE QUEST BOARD
