Enemy spawn rate after today update

  • @kirv6216 it worked for me yesterday. I needed to do some buried treasure for the quest board and slapped down the checkpoint. No more mobs.

    What activity has gauntlet sections?

    @Unleet1 That might be why it doesn’t feel any different to me than the other times I’ve dealt with all the mobs spawning at once. I’ve been only solo for this update. I finally dealt with some getting out of hand enough yesterday when trying to bury treasure. Other than that they’ve been fine for me.

  • Hadn't played in several weeks but decided to hop on. Wow. Insane spawn rates. Playong solo it was extremely difficult to do anything. I can live woth the island enemies I suppose, but the sharks! Tried to sneak into a FOF twice in row boats but the second I hopped off I had two sharks on me. Same at an outpost trying to sneak aboard a ship for a free ride. Gotta at least fix the sharks.

  • Glad I'm not the only one! The second I set foot on an island it's non stop spawns. I don't even have time to look down at a treasure map before BAM!!! Another wave of EVERY ENEMY TYPE. love this game but it's made anything other than fortresses a total chore

  • Yeah this needs fixing and fast. The usual overtune everything attitude at Rare. Being solo DOES NOT affect the spawn rate. I had to collect four cargo from Grogsoaked Ed and it was pure hell. Spawns every 30-45 seconds, phantoms, crawlers and skellies together. I killed over 40 skellies, 15 crawlers, and 10 phantoms in the five hellish minute it took to grab the cargo. This is insane sh**t.

    Putting the game down and playing Starfield until they fix this disaster. No more money until its fixed. Certainly none until some modicum of anti-cheat is discussed.

    Whatever inane ideas comes into your minds next, dear devs...take the idea and cut it in half, then half again. Maybe then it'll be fun. Or ask your players for once.

    Get your heads out of your basspoles.

  • @abjectarity the gauntlet i refer to is the 3 different paths you can choose to take towards the end of the heart of fire where you either end up going through a gauntlet of traps or skeleton wave battles depending on which path you take in his case he took the skeleton waves which are normally just waves of basic tall tail skeletons (slightly tougher then regular) but when he went through he had keg skeletons, phantoms and ocean crawlers all spawning in too

  • I started up my game after months of not playing and started a Gold Hoarder quest, and as soon as I got to the first island, wave after wave after wave of enemies started spawning. I got everything: Skeletons, phantoms, crawlers, and they just wouldn't stop. Idk what happened but it's gotta stop. Btw I was playing solo, so the crew size has nothing to do with it.

  • I just made PL so was eager to try an Athena voyage for the first time. One of my radials was an X-marks the spot with like 4 marks on Devil's Ridge. From the moment I stepped on to the island I could not pause a moment to ID a location. Infinite waves of crawlers, phantoms and skellies and combinations of all just kept coming. Any killed were immediately replaced, usually by more. I kept trying after multiple deaths and collected a handful of gems from the crawlers but it was literally impossible to locate and dig even once. Frankly I don't even know that I was able to even get to the vicinity of a single one of the spots - I could not even pause a second to orient and puzzle out.

    The sharks are the same. If you merely touch the water they spawn and aggressively attack immediately in numbers.

    The dial is stuck at 11 and needs to be turned back down because right now it's functionally impossible to play outside of just piloting your ship around.

  • OK I thought I was crazy but dealing with this has been maddening.

    I was playing with my girlfriend who is like Level 2 doing some Level 2 Gold Hoarders Voyage so she could learn the mechanics of reading the map and digging up and burying treasure and it was like a constant onslaught of sharks whenever we got in the water and infinite spawns of enemies that would pop up right behind us. Honesty the it was the least fun I've ever had playing SoT and she wasn't super sold on playing anymore after that.....

  • The game is borderline unplayable and Rare hasn't even publicly acknowledged that they're working on a fix.

    Hopefully they ARE working on a hot fix...or they can keep putting out tweets about their latest Disney collab and the Legends Week that nobody's going to bother with if this nonsense isn't fixed.

  • @kirv6216 oh, yeah, the heart of fire doesn’t stop mobs in the roar. So if you’re doing the heart of fire itself you are screwed lol. Back in 2022 I was doing the 3 paths and got ocean crawlers, keg skeletons, and phantoms while trying to open the doors and it was an endless death trap. The crab guy would slam the keg skeleton and everything would die. I was on the other side of the door once when he slammed and I still died, door wasn’t open.

  • Tall Tales aren't any different, unfortunately. I was tagging along with a friend to help her in Shores of Gold on Saturday and it took us more than two hours just in the two rooms with skellie mobs where you have to raise the doors using the capstan. Literal infinite waves of 12-16 skellies at a time (half of which armed with blundies and pistols) with not even a split-second between waves. We'd exhausted the supply barrels of food less than fifteen minutes in and it was just a ridiculous war of attrition after that. the fight with the Gold Hoarder at the end took us about five minutes after that. A final boss should not take less effort than the mooks you have to kill to get to him.

    I know some people are new and aren't used to the whole new content = new glitches = patch on Thursday thing....

    To be fair...a game breaking bug didn't need to wait for the regular Thursday cadence. This needed a hot fix much sooner. They've done it in the past for lesser bugs.
