I will henceforth post all my tavern tales in here so I do not fill this category with topics. That being said, here is the first tale for this topic.
Tale #1: The fleet, the fight, and the betrayal:
I set sail and was going to work on some tall tales, when I noticed a sloop fighting the last wave of a skeleton fleet. I went over and helped, we made an alliance, and sank the fleet. After that, I left the alliance (since I was doing tall tales I would not get them any gold through the alliance, and they had done most of the work for the fleet), did part of a tall tale, and noticed that there was an active Fort of Fortune nearby. A checkpoint had been saved for my tall tale, so I figured I might as well go check it out. There was already another sloop there, so I decided to move my sloop near some rocks, raise the anchor on my sloop so I could make a quick getaway if I needed to, row over to the fort, and ask if I could help them out (they were grade 5 reaper emissaries, I was an Athena's fortune emissary, and I am not good at PvP, so it did not seem like a great idea to bring my ship there). I was not interested in the loot, I was just interested in clearing the fort, and asked them if I could help them with the fort, just for the sake of clearing it. They agreed, so I proceeded to aid them with the fort. A little while after we got to the Ashen Lord, I noticed that one of the two people for the other sloop was missing, and their sloop was nowhere in sight. When I looked for their sloop, it was heading towards the rocks where my ship was. It seemed their plan was this: Wait until the Ashen Lord fight started, sail over to my ship while the Ashen Lord was distracting me, sink it, then have me killed after the fight was done. Personally, I did not care if they killed me or not as I was not interested in the loot, but I did care if they sank my ship, as it would add to the cost of repairing it, and it was probably too late to save my ship as they were almost upon it. I decided that if they were going to sink my ship, they should at least pay for the cost to repair it in the form of three villainous bounty skulls from the skeleton captains I had helped them defeat. I took the skulls, loaded them onto my rowboat (fortunately, the crewmate at the fort did not notice) just as they sank my ship, rowed over to the nearest outpost, and sold them for about 3,000 gold. Moral of the last part of my story: If someone can not defeat you in PvP, that does not mean they can not get retaliate if you sink their ship.
