Hand Held Map

  • I'd like to see a small hand held map, same size, look, feel as the treasure maps only it shows the local area and has an X where the pirate is currently located.

At sea this would be maybe 1-2 nautical miles, enough to be useful in a rowboat.

I guess the one concern is it would make finding buried treasure easier, maybe too easy? I'm really most interested in the rowboat aspect, maybe make it a small chart that is in the rowboat?

I disagree, that would take away from having to use your ship

  • @mufasha5688 How would a map take away the need to use the ship? Not seeing that at all.

  • The point isn’t to make it easier for the player singularly, it’s about communication with your crew. You’re supposed to discover places together, feel the buzz of finding something. If they wanted to do add this, it would have happened at release, or by now after 5 years.

Sorry, I don't get it, what does a small map, not the full chart, used by a pirate not on a ship have to do with communication?

  • @foambreaker you’re not supposed to know where you are, feel lost, turn the wrong way etc. If you know where you are, then what’s the need to chat with your crew?

To my other point you’ve not responded to: if Rare wanted players to have a mini map, we’d have one to begin with back in 2018 or by now 5 years later.

"If Rare wanted us to have Hourglass..." saying something should not be in game because it is not already makes zero sense, that would basically mean they can't add anything. Clearly from the documentary they are aware of the lack of a map, there are probably 100s, even 1000s of things they would like to do, eventually. It may just be a matter of priorities.

Also I don't really see the communication issue, I have never asked anyone "where am I", but ok, as I also suggested, make it a feature of the rowboat so it can only be used in the rowboat.

  • @foambreaker false equivalence dude. I’m not gonna get into the mud over this but based on your other posts and replies, I’m better just leaving my criticism and moving on, cause you won’t be convinced otherwise. Happy sailing pirate.

  • @tesiccl No one is getting into the mud, just asked why.

I dont think they should do this, but if they did it would have to be like .1 nautical miles. the map is only like 2 nautical miles wide.

  • Full support, right now I have to use third party maps to navigate while I'm in a rowboat.

I wouldn't be opposed to a set of static charts either, but I can imagine most players wouldn't make good use of those.
