Sea serpent ship set problems

  • Is anyone else getting a bit tired of things in the splash text for items/cosmetics that are not actually in the game?

The sea serpent set isn’t the first but it is the most blatant. The splash text mentions the figurehead being “a trophy of your greatest hunt”… but we’ve never hunted one. The skull on the capstan would imply that these creatures are actually real within the world but of course we can’t see them because they’re not really in the game.

It kinda feels like we’re being gaslit into thinking there’s more to the world of sea of thieves then there actually is.

They had the opportunity to create another mini-boss here, not as dangerous as a kraken but harder than a meg. Most of the work is already done. Make a sea serpent but have it using the same mechanics as the kraken’s tentacles; grabbing us off our decks in its jaws, smashing into our hull and coiling around our ship. Again, just like the tentacles have 1, 2 or 3 spawn depending on what ship size you’re on. Have it drop teeth and some loot and put the sea serpent cosmetics behind commendations for hunting them. Job done.

Obviously they might put them in later and that’s great but why put great cosmetics that would work perfectly into new commendations in the emporium? If they do do sea serpents now they’ll have to make new cosmetic rewards for hunting them.

Idk just feels like they’re saying “we’re not gonna do sea serpents but here’s some cosmetics so you can pretend like they’re in the game.”

Like I said there are other examples but this is the latest.
