IPG needs to be updated...

    Sorry if this topic has been discussed before but i am really disappointed with the ipg in this game. Firstly i want to make it clear that i totally respect the decision made by rare not to have a character creation and instead have a random character generator so that each player will have a more unique looking pirate. This was their vision for the game and there is nothing wrong with that. However since sea of thieves is a heavily cosmetic based game, where rp is encouraged and your pirate and their cosmetics tell a tale (according to rare) i find it really frustrating that the ipg does not even have at least a few basic options so that one may choose a pirate of their liking. I have spent 20+ hours and almost 10 appearance changing potions and i haven't been able to find a character model that i find at least decent. The reason behind this is that even i find a pirate that i like once i choose them and log in game they look a lot of the times completely different from what they did in the ipg. From teeth missing to scars that didn't show, a permanent sleepy mood that has your pirates eyes always closed, the list goes on. I undestand i am in the minority here and that propably most people are happy with their choice but i think improving a few thing wouldn't hurt.
    My suggestion is as follows. Let us be able to gender lock the pirates that the ipg is going to create. I do not see any benefit to having to go through an absurd amount of female models when i am looking for a male pirate and vice versa. Second let us choose the body type of the pirate. Again this doesn't hurt the games vision of unique characters since people that want a slimmer or larger pirate will just ignore the other options. And last but not least let us choose the skin color of our pirate. I am gonna go on a strech here and say that scars also should be optional and something you can change on the vanity chest as well, and eye color as well.

    With these changes i think the uniqueness of the ipg can still be present while allowing players to have a character that appeals more to their liking. Sorry for the long post and rant , and if you made it through the end thanks for reading!

    They need to add couple simple features: light filters like gender weight and skin color, the ability to zoom in to see them closer, and be able to change their poses, as some of them dont really show the pirate correctly.

    Almost like clockwork, third one Ive seen this month

    I have spent 20+ hours and almost 10 changing potions

    So you spent 19 hours and 55+min wasting time on a generator, along with 10? potions that cost 2$ (i think) because you can't decide on a look you like....That more of a You issue and not a game.

    The reason behind this is that even i find a pirate that i like once i choose them and log in game they look a lot of the times completely different from what they did in the ipg.

    Outfits change a person. "Clothes make the man" so do speak.

    You might wanna adjust your brightness if you can't see these things. And come on...Teeth? When do you ever, or anyone for that matter look at a pirates mouth? During a fight, nobody gonna stop "Oh look he got no teeth"

    Sadly no, but I find it funny how crazy people get when there Barbie Pirate isn't P-E-R-F-E-C-T to there liking.

    Let us be able to gender lock the pirates that the ipg is going to create.

    Whether you actually let people choose or not, if someone wants to be some skinny little twig man, they will roll until they find something close enough. "Look-alikes" don't matter if someone knows what they want.

    @burnbacon I never said the game had an issue with the ipg and was just voicing my opinion on the topic ( if you are talking about the title of the post i just had to put something). I also have not spent more than 5 dollars on potions since you can get ancient coins pretty easily through seasons and community days. Furthermore there is nothing wrong with my screen but the poses pirates take combined with the lack of any ability to zoom in make all the things i mentioned pretty easy to miss. About the teeth aspect it was just an example of things that you can't really see in the ipg (they also can be seen when using emotes). It's definetely more of a personal issue since i am kind of a perfectionist but i still think a few changes wouldn't hurt ( at least the gender lock should have been a thing ages ago).

    @alienmagi Well i think everyone agrees genderlock should be a thing, plus the fact that the community costantly voices their complains speaks for itself. I think it wouldn't be that hard to at least add a few options. Besides certain stuff from updating the ipg could also benefit the base game. For example making the scars removable from the vanity chest and possibly making them something you can buy (for example blind eye scar etc.) could be a new addition to customizing your pirate. It doesn't "need" to be updated but it could use some love in my opinion, since people who are happy about it lose nothing and people who aren't finally get some qol options they always wanted.

    The reason Rare hasn't changed anything is because it's a sunk cost. Most players are going to roll a character they like and start playing and never touch the IPG again. The number of hours an average players spends in the game is going to be much, much more than the limited time they spent in the character roller, so Rare is going to invest in the game as opposed to character creation.

    They could add a few filters to help out with character creation to help you focus on specific things you want, but if it was a priority I think they would have done that by now.

    Cant believe it would take very long to add it, easy feature that would please the community.

    Assigning developers and artists to develop additional filters, modify the character backend and create the UI for added features like this is all time that could be spent working on something else, so if "something else" is more valuable to the game and/or company they will do that first. IPG doesn't retain players like new game content does, which is really what they are after.

    If it didn't take long and was easy, don't you think it would be done by now? With infinite time and budget, I'm sure they'd do a lot of extra things to please the community with no need to prioritize, but that's not how it works unfortunately.

    No, because maybe they do not agree with us.
    Im not saying it takes two seconds but things like zooming in and changing poses should be a walk in the park.
    As for filters, it depends on how the data was used, and then add UI.
