I have a lot of fps drops

  • First of all, I'm sorry if you don't understand what I'm saying, I don't speak English
The thing is that I don't really have low fps during gameplay but sometimes the island textures don't load and when I want to go to an outpost it looks like a ps1 game and until they finish loading the textures and colors npc I suffer drops from 80 fps to 10 or 1 freezing the game taking up to almost 2 minutes to respond
    any solution? :(

  • as an additional note this is my pc:
    intel core i5-5675c
    nvidia gtx 1050
    8GB RAM
    1TB HDD

  • Make sure you first lower any details in your Graphics Settings and bring your Resolution Scaling down to try and bring that FPS back up. I would also recommend disabling V-Sync to also raise your FPS.

If none of those work, then check your Task Manager to see what could be the issue. You would need to check what is taking alot of your resources.

  • @vorka7370 said in I have a lot of fps drops:

    1TB HDD

What kind of drive is this - SSD or Mechanical? If it's mechanical, is it 7200rpm or 5400rpm? If you know the manufacturer or model number, that would help.

Textures are streamed from the drive when they're needed, and if the location it is trying to read from is slow it's going to take longer to load them in.

  • 8gb of ram is a bit low so it can take more time for stuff to load, so if you can upgrade at all, that may help.

Other than that i would say turning down graphics settings can help some.

  • Things don't seem much better on series x right now. Fire is messed up and cannons are behaving very glitchy.

Making hard work for ship battles.

  • HDD is a mechanical drive. Probably a lower rpm one too. HDD is drastically going to hurt your texture streaming rates and your load times. If it has to load massive chunks of data it will drop your fps.

That 8GB of RAM is not good. Gaming pretty much requires 16gb now.

You're going to want 1080p or lower resolution and then lower those graphics settings to like Medium or High. If you have above 60hz refresh rate, disable vsync and enable VRR if your monitor supports it.

  • @d3adst1ck It is mechanical but I don't know how to see if it is 7200 rpm or 5400

  • @personalc0ffee I already have vsync disabled and the graphics are all at minimum but the game keeps freezing very often and the truth is that I have no idea if my monitor supports VRR

  • @unleet1 It is that I have all the graphics to the minimum possible with vsync disabled I close all the programs in the background before playing and unless my pc does not meet the minimum requirements (which I really think it does) I don't know what can cause the problem

  • So it is probably your HDD and your RAM limit.

  • @personalc0ffee Thinking about it subconsciously I knew that this was the problem but I don't want to accept it due to the lack of resources to improve my pc :/

  • @d3adst1ck I was looking for how to see the rpm and my HDD is 7200

  • @unleet1 I don't know what the OP is but if you mean my fps in the game we are talking about 60 moderately stable but with this problem they drop to 1 and make the game completely unplayable :(

  • I can only feel fpa drops on New Golden Sands, i dont think its optimized properly yet
