Kegs so close to your spawn on the new PvP mode is really annoying

  • Seriously, keep the barrels, remove the kegs.

I've had two matches were theres a rock on the other side and a keg on the other side so I am forced to turn into either a keg or the rock. Its incredibly annoying to lose because you are forced into a rock or a keg if you want to turn.

Or then increase the distance from which the boats spawn on each other, or spawn them with sails up.

  • You just got unlucky.

  • Add megakegs...

  • @blam320
unlucky or not its bound to happen when they place these random kegs several places in every match, its stupid the fight should be a 1v1 and not you against some ship and rare who doesnt like you. I understand the barrels for people trying to make comeback with nothing, but the kegs is just stupid.

  • Would you say the same thing if it were just a normal encounter?
Saw a ship and sailed to fight it only to turn a rock and boom random barrels with keg?

    Your still in adventure.
When you attack, your basically sailing to a like minded ship, open world. Not a area blocked from the world
    (Unless your in the circle)

  • This sounds like its an issue not with a whole mechanic, but an extremely specific and rare issue. Never have i had to choose between crashing or running into a keg, and im willing to wager that most people have never run into that extremely specific scenario.

My bets are they wernt naturally spawned there, and instead placed there for an intended trap by the defenders.

  • I love it because it makes things less predictable and more random

it also can help in some of these long fights people are giving negative feedback about

  • Nah they should stay, it adds a good amount of RNG and let's be real, running into them might be a signal that you have an opportunity to improve your sea awareness and maneuvering ;)

P.S: If you have no option but to run into barrels you can shoot the kegs and pass the flotsam safely.

  • @burnbacon
well never in my playtime have i found it a normal encounter to meet all these kegs within the same area, this mode should be as fair as possible and not based on luck, otherwise just allow kraken as well i guess?
Just annoying that every battle they have chosen to place countless of kegs around with these barrels, and it shouldnt really be the random keg that decides the fate of the naval battle.

    @GoldsMen
I meet them also every battle with barrels around them, not placed by defenders and especially because there typical is no defender and we are placed nearly at the boarder of the entire map (attacker vs attacker)
It is something they have placed in, i typical see 3-4 spots with birds within the area relatively close to eachother.

  • Honestly I am debating if I want to keep grinding this now because I fear they will remove the kegs. It's RNG and half my wins have been due to kegs its great. I hope rather than removing the kegs they instead have the match start with our sails at half instead of full because I find it annoying to slow down at the start of every match if I actually want to try and fight instead of just working on milestones as much as possible. Don't forget to spyglass everyone at the start of each match!

  • @goldsmen There seem to be some predetermined battle fields where they put 2 attackers against each other. They almost seem to be taking place near the old fleet battles did and these areas load in like 2 sets of barrels for each ship or something. Kegs seem to be a common occurrence in theses areas.

  • @pithyrumble Athena kegs in barrels o plenty!!!

  • @xzodeak

    Explosion size yes.
That should be pretty rare tho lol.

  • Interestingly I was watching Foxdie last night and he said he was watching the map for spawners so he could leave a hundred or so kegs around the spawn point for some reason I didn't catch, may have been just for a laugh.
Assuming the spawn points are static?

  • @goldsmen

Its happened to me, ive seen it happen to enemies, ive seen it happen on stream.

If you dont instantly turn left or right in the match making, you will not have angle and the enemy will.

Sometimes the kegs spawn in a way that the larger ships turning radius matches with the kegs, and thats not cool.

Just because it hasnt happened to you does not mean its not an issue for me and others.

  • @wolfmanbush

I dont care if there are kegs, just put them further away from the turning radius brig and gally has to do in the begining of the match.

  • @barto9991

Running into them in the begining is not fun, you simply have to turn left or right in the begining of each match and if you dont, the enemy has angle on you while you dont have angle. If you do turn like you need to, your turn radius can match the keg spawn locations and you hit them. This is not good game design.

  • @i-jusa-i

You can call out flotsam with the birds in the sky and can shoot the kegs how is that bad game design?

  • @barto9991 Because the other team does not have to dodge kegs and can have their crew rising sails while you need to commit one of your crew to shoot the kegs (and the kegs are very likely to hit reg...)

Just keep the kegs somewhere else, why do they need to be at the turn radius of brig / gally when you are required to turn in the begining of the fight.

  • @burnbacon it spawns you directly in front of kegs, sometimes so close you can’t turn out of it. In normal adventure I have plenty of time to avoid them.

  • I actually successfully set up a keg trap for an attacking ship today.

Cleared out a Fort for supplies and kegs, spread them all about and sailed away the distance I expected a ship to spawn in and turned and pointed right towards them and dropped anchor.

Ship spawned in, hit a keg very soon afterwards and that was that, mast down I swept in and finished the job in moments.

Your defending after all. Its up to you to choose your location and try to gain an advantage.

  • I actually think the keg rates in floating barrels has been reduced. I’ve seen over a dozen barrels floating in the water and only one had kegs with it.
