New simple pvp game mode

  • What if rare added a simple alternative to adventure

A gamemode that puts 8 people in a small map (for example the shrine of ancient tears).
The goal of the gamemode can be free for all, team deathmatch or capture the flag.

I do think this should be a great addition and would make the people that want a quick pvp session happy.

    • It should stay casual, so no skill based matchmaking
    • Some commendations and exclusive rewards

  • @cpt-305 That is a veiled way to ask for a new Arena. I don't think it will happen.

  • Arena was removed to allow devs to focus on one mode and not have to commit time elsewhere, the chance of them putting anything back in is next to zero

  • I think it might be safe (and controversial) for me to say this, but...

Get your head in the game already, people don't like PvP.

People like short sessions, people like slaying skellies, and some people like good social interactions that don't involve having to deal with the game's shoddy PvP combat system. I wish this were otherwise, but that's why Blazing Sails exists, why other games like CS:GO exist, and even free ones like Splitgate exist. These are games that were designed for "Quick PvP Sessions" unlike Sea of Thieves, which failed at the concept because the devs wanted to stick true to the game's ACTUAL environment of using your ship's cannons, getting roughed around by the environment, and letting chaos decide the fate of a battle. None this ship-less gunning each other down.

Realize that, and I think you can make your final decision on whether or not you should continue playing this game. Many other Arena players have either left, stayed secluded with NAL 1v1s, or are chasing PvE grinding Reapers across the map till they hit the Devil's Shroud.

I think this is a bit unfair to try to represent the viewpoint of the community in general in terms of their views on pvp.

I'd never claim to know proportions of playerbase but I'd say even people who don't primarily pvp can and do enjoy it, based on their terms ie don't want to lose loot etc. It is satisfying to sink someone using your wits and strats regardless of whether you were aggressor or defender.

  • Sounds a lot like arena :/

  • Won't happen unfortunately.
And most people on the forums tend to ignore the increase in posts of newer players asking for how to get good at PVP since they don't stand a chance against the arena sweats to which the only good response now is sorry Rare removed the only mode where you can get good PVP practice.

Takes prob over 1k hours in adventure to get the same level of practice as someone did in less than 100 hours in arena, newer players will never be able to compete with players who sunk hundreds if not thousands of hours in arena alone.

  • You know, sot will lose alot of players in a few months time. Just to dig chests, the game is nothing. The cannons are useless too.
I find the game very boring after all i just have to do commendations and steal events. I hope something new will be added which is a challenge.

The circumstances of Arena are very, very different from those of Adventure. You could never "practice" for proper PvP in Adventure using the Arena.

And your statement that it's only "Arena Sweats" that cause problems for new players is outright false. PvP hunters in Adventure have been around since the game began, they persisted through the failed life of Arena, and they didn't care.

The best way for new players to learn to play is to use the Discord to find a good crew willing to teach them.

The circumstances were different, and while time constraints didn't allow for lengthy tuck plays or PvP of that nature, there was no better place to practice the fundamentals of naval, or hand-to-hand fights (island or ships), than in Arena.

While 15 min of non-stop PvP isn't representative of Adventure interactions, the skills you developed in these conditions were definitely useful in random Adventure fights. At least imo.

  • Ahoy @cpt-305 !

There used to be a PvP-only mode in the game called the Arena, however the decision was made to shut it down because only 2% of our player base were actually playing it on a regular basis.

This decision is final and will not be reversed.

You can read more information about it here.

    Dropping anchor here.
    Thanks!
