Hunter's Call Emissary

  • Fishing in Sea of Thieves is one thing that a lot of players can enjoy. If you're good at PVP, or bad, you can still fish. Nothing stops you from doing this which is why it would be a great thing to add more features to. The Hunter's Call is currently very basic. Get fish, then sell it. There is so much potential that could add so much more to this. An emissary would allow for you to make more money, truly represent what you enjoy doing, and so other pirates can see your intentions. For this to be a proper emissary, there needs to be a risk. Currently you can stash all of your fish in storage crates or barrels. There needs to be items that can only be placed or held other than mermaid gems for the Hunter's Call. Some of these items can be added such as a megalodon tooth or a giant crab shell which need to be placed on your ship and not hidden away in storage. (These are just some examples for items). Another thing could be buyable rowboats. Sometimes finding rowboats can take a while and maybe you want one with a cannon or harpoon so instead you could buy one from the Hunter's Call. A normal one could maybe be $10,000 (I'm not good with prices for things) but a rowboat with a cannon could be $15,000. These rowboats would not come with any additional items in the chests because it makes more sense. A crate of bait could also be very helpful. Although it is not very hard to get bait, I would much rather purchase a crate of it for time saving purposes. I believe that there should also be voyages for the Hunter's Call. The basic voyages could be something like "Catch a Seashell Devilfish" or "Catch a Russet Wildsplash" where you would have to catch a specific kind of fish and return it to the Hunter's Call. Depending on the level you are in the Hunter's Call, there could be more difficult fish types to catch. A level 25 promotion voyage could be something like a megalodon hunt contract. It could be similar to the ghost fleet voyage where it shows where the fleet was last seen haunting. Once you get there, you play 'Summon the Megalodon' and it spawns. It would mention what kind of megalodon you would be fighting in the contract (Or maybe you need to solve a puzzle to find the location). One other recommendation I have for a Hunter's Call update would be a big crab. Picture it. On a large island, there would be a large crab crawling on it and its landscapes. This crab would be slightly smaller than the sloop. It could be fought on land or using naval attacks (Your ship). This would be more of a boss fight and could drop items like normal treasure or Hunter's Call explicit items such as "King Crab Meat" or "Giant Crab Shell" which could both be handed in at the Hunter's Call Seaports (A giant snake boss or a sea serpent could also be very cool but I don't really have much to talk about how those could work in the game). Having more animals could also add to the livelihood of the game. Animals such as bats, crabs, or other creatures that you may think of. One final idea would be to add more bait. Currently there is only Leeches, Grubs, and Earthworms. Maybe there doesn't have to be whole new categories of bait but things similar to 'Scorching Earthworms' which could be dug up in the Devil's Roar or 'Antient Leeches' which could be dug up in the Ancient Isles. These would be fairly more rare but could also result in better fish types or attract more trophy variants. These are just my thoughts, and I would love to hear any feedback. You don't have to agree with everything I said but I hope I was able to show you some cool concepts for the future of the Hunter's Call.

  • It would certainly be neat if the Hunter's Call had a bit more content. The idea of a sort of giant crab boss would definitely make for an interesting addition.

  • @endercake82 I really don't care one way or the other on the emissary. I will say that if implemented it will make fishing ships and players a valid hunting target and therefore some mechanics need to change to balance how their faction loot works. Some of these after all are worth north of 10k, and this would now be 25k with a grade 5 Hunters Call or Reaper.

1-Players need to drop any fish/meat they were carrying in inventory when they are killed. (can generate a pouch similar to ammo pouches)
2-Ships, upon sinking, need to have any fish/meat in barrels spawn in a floating barrel at the site of the sunken ship.

Another thing I will actually agree with is the option to purchase rowboats. However I think your prices are WAY too low for such convience. $10k? an empty storage crate costs more. I think you need to add a digit to those prices. Probably the cheapest, a standard rowboat, should be $50k. Harpoon $100k, cannon $150k. Gold is super inflated over the last year or two and really these prices are nothing. You can earn that kinda money from a single world event, one run up to grade 5 Reaper, a single lost shipment voyage as a grade 5 Merchant, etc.
