  • getting attacked at the Outposts while either setting off or trying to sell loot.

Keep both eyes (or one eye if you have a patch) open to the seas and make quicker work of selling.

and to answer your question, No. Because does this happen a lot? No.

  • There isn't any difference in reality

a sink is a sink and a kill is a kill

outpost or at sea this is piracy

  • Great feedback and suggestion post, I must say

  • So like... What do you suggest that the devs do about it?

Unless you are spending a ridiculous amount of time gathering supplies, browsing cosmetics, or squating at the Outpost, you'll rarely be attacked by someone when you set off.

Now if you have loot, there are a few rules you can follow to reduce your losses.

    1. Sell early, sell often. NEVER stack if you can't handle losing the loot.

    2. Don't approach outpost with a player near or at the outpost.

    3. Be tactical, and use a rowboat to turn in loot. Let them go after your empty boat, and sell!

    4. Or, you know, you could just fight back...

  • No I'm not sick of pirates in this pirate game, thank you for asking.

  • Pirates being pirates? Murderous scoundrels being murderous scoundrels?
    Noooooo wayyyy

  • Well since I keep an eye out for incoming ships I do not get attacked at outposts so I will have to keep my hook down.

  • read my msg here lol https://www.seaofthieves.com/ru/community/forums/topic/145915/outposts-need-some-form-of-protection-for-new-spawns-and-sellers
that's super dumb dude think about the ppl who completed all the tall tales, almost every achievement. What should they do? Keep playing pve? NO. We will keep killing ppl like u. That's a part of a game bruh. Go play some single player pve games if u don't like pvp. Or just defend your self. Is this hard? Yeah I think this is hard for ppl who don't even want to learn

  • @el-spaniardchi also if ure being chased and wanna sell... For example, reapers chest (25k worth of gold if ure 5th reaper emissary), u can just jump off your ship with that chest and sell, without stopping your ship. And if u got a lot of loot that worth like 100-200 per chest, u can just better try to sink them too. But why am I even explaining anything to a dude who don't even want to learn and just asks devs to remove pvp from the game hahaha

  • There are certain outposts that are more risky to sell at than others. Currently, I would say Sanctuary is the least risky, followed by Galleon's Grave. I would avoid selling at Plunder Outpost or Ancient Spire as both are really easy to ambush. Don't hoard loot, keep an eye out as you approach, approach at a curved angle to get a better look around, and plan your turn ins ahead of time. When you stop, anchor, raise sails, lift anchor immediately. That way, you are ready to get away should you need to.

I don't ever agree with any safe harbours in the game, there are ways to mitigate losses but please think before you make comments like this. This "git gud" attitude and attack on sight is what has led to the game's rather tenuous reputation for being "toxic" and it turns folks off the game.

By all means, attack and kill and plunder, it's a pirate game, but have empathy for your foes. There are folks out there who cannot put up a fight for whatever reason (beit physical limitations or whatever). The game has zero matchmaking to cater for that and accessibility can only go so far in closing that gap.

So, please, continue as you were but don't go telling folk to play another game if they don't like it, it's not good for any of us.

  • It doesn't really happen to me much....maybe 4 times in the last year. I don't stack more than 20 items anyway. And I always look around when approaching an outpost so I can figure how much time I have. After awhile you just kinda know how much time you've got, sell your priorities, and either evade or fight.

  • Hands (and hooks if ye have them) in the air for all ye cool pirates in here, taking your time to explain our craft to this rookie!

Joke aside, @shadowstar-x1 absorb the wisdom our fellow mates have gifted you, and I promise that you will never have selling/ambush problems ever agian.

  • @shadowstar-x1

There is nothing WRONG with attacking anybody at an Outpost. There are no safe zones in Sea of Thieves unless you are on the Ferry.

Especially if you are Selling Loot, why wouldn't another Boat try to attack you and get there hands on that precious booty you are trying to sell?

That is up the player or crew to constantly be aware of the surroundings at all times, especially when trying to sell loot. If you have loot on board, and you are even allowing any type of ship to even come within a Map Square towards you without dropping sails or doing anything tactical, then you are doing something clearly wrong.

As far as fresh spawn literally just leaving the dock, I mean how many times does that actually happen being attacked? I been playing for 4 years and I can probably count on one hand how many times I've had incoming boats try to attack me leaving the outpost after loading in lol

  • @trappy-trapp dude calm down there's no need to be toxic, instead be more newbie friendly. Maybe they're just starting out... anyway thanks for the advice

  • You guys still bother turning in loot?

  • As this thread was last posted in several months prior to the two most recent ones, these constitute as a thread necro and so we will be dropping anchor on it here. Thank you.
