Has split screen been re-evaluated on the latest xbox hardware? It's my dream to crew a brigantine with my two kids!

  • I would very happily accept major resolution and FPS downgrades for the opportunity to play Sea of Thieves split screen so that I could locally crew a sloop or brigantine or even a galleon if 4 players could be supported. I searched this forum and saw that Rare evaluated this on the xbox one hardware and found the performance to be unacceptably bad, but on the series S or X I would imagine it would be viable for at least two players? If not 4 with even more trade offs?

My kids love to watch me play this game and I would adore the opportunity to be a crew with them. It would be such a great thing for us as a family needing to work together and cooperate. Plus who doesn't want to bark orders to their kids like "RAISE THE ANCHOR" or "MAN THE CANNONS!" :D

  • I imagine a two person split screen would work but it would need a lot of testing and bug fixing... The servers are already kinda buggy and I don't know if they could handle this. But I think the hardware should run fine it's just the servers...

  • @kiggsworthy While I have no doubt the newer hardware could do something. I think that at nearly 4 years since release and having a roadmap for the next year. Something like this just doesny seem to be in the cards.

I can not wait to play games with my daughter, shes showing some interest but shes also only 5. When it comes time i am going to look towards consoles like the series s and a monitor being a big part of my solution.

  • I don’t think split screen will be coming anytime soon, but what’s not to say Santa might give them something for Christmas to allow you all to be on the same crew?🎅

  • Pretty certain you can buy 2 old xboxs for the price of a new one.

  • Its an idea.
But this would take away the full view of the game if split.
