Too much content?

  • One of my only problems with SoT is the rapid pace of new content such as new commendations, special events, plunderpass, ledger rewards etc.
I would just want to grind them at my own pace, because now I don't get to do anything else because of the lack of my time. So yes, I am able to complete all of them almost always, but that leaves me no time at all for anything else to do in the game.

And now you might be thinking: well just do whatever you want in the game and don't stress the new content, you can do it later.
But that is exactly what gives me the feeling of stress. I constantly have the urge to complete the newest commendations and ledger rewards. And if I don't that makes me even more stressed, so I can't just go and "have fun" when I know I still have work to do (in sot).

And I know that most players want nothing more than new content because they're bored for playing so much. And used to be just like them, I used to play 8h of this game every day, but nowadays not so much.

And yes I know this has been suggested countless times before but I needed to get this off my chest.
I think it is ok to add new content quickly but just give us a bit more time to complete them.

  • @zerrryy wow...this sounds like you better should take a break from SoT!

  • Too much content?
    Been suggested countless times?
Stress from playing your favourite game?

  • @zerrryy matey, Rare cannot cater to all I am afraid. If they slowed down content any more than the three month cycle that they currently have, we would see massive number drops.

This is genuinely one of the first times that I have seen someone say there is too much content on the seas! you should've been there at launch when we had forts, Karen and three types of voyage...

That was a load of content considering there was a year of Alpha that had even less that kept us occupied haha!

I think the OP's point is kind of valid to their play style. SoT never felt to me like a "You must complete everything and do it all!!!". It was always a jump on and see where the session takes me, if I complete things, then great, if not, then I still enjoy my voyage regardless.

I think people expect to be able to do everything in this game instead of be satisfied with just jumping on and doing absolutely nothing :)

  • Honestly, I wouldn't be mad if they took one season just for Quality of Life and Fixes. The QoL doesn't need to add any Commendations, but could still suffice to adding more content as it were depending on what was lumped in. This would give the completionist crowd a bit of a breather to feel like they are catching up a bit, but could still stand to be a strong update cycle as well.

That said, I don't think the players who need the content could stomach much more than a single Season in a given year not loading in more stuff for them to push for. So I wouldn't expect content to ever slow down much, but a well planned QoL/Fix update could still be in order.

  • Lol clearly the speech of a power gamer who cannot have fun if he didn't had unlock all secret and find a way to exploit bug in game.

  • First there was no content, now there is too much?

    Argh, when does it end?

  • 100% agree! Also hitreg is far too good in this game please make less of my shots register correctly!

    This is a you problem.
There is no reason to punish the whole of player base because a few can't pace themselves. And I'm saying this as someone who also tries to get all accommodations done as swiftly as possible.

It's like eating a whole cake at once too swiftly, getting a stomachache, and then asking that a bakery only bake a slice at a time.

You do not have to try to get everything done at once. In fact it is better if you don't!
If there is a lot in a game and you feel anxiety by the way you are playing, and by trying to do everything at once, try to learn more restraint and slow down. Allow yourself some self care by forcing yourself to put the game down if need be. Rather then trying to shape a game to fit a single person's individual 'pace'. You are already doing things 'at your own pace' and, as you have said, had been able to get everything in game.

You have time, let yourself calm and slow down. Allow yourself to stop and smell the flowers- or in sea of thieves case, leisurely stroll about the islands. The only accommodations that need to be worked on in any amount of limited timeframe are the ones that are tied to time-limited events, like the Festival of Plenty and Festival of Giving. Otherwise, the seasons last long enough and are easy enough to get through for players to take their time with them.

@ZerRryy said in Too much content?:

give us a bit more time to complete them.

There is no timer on most accommodations and seasons last several months.

Give -yourself- time to complete them.

  • Bigger problem I think is focusing too much on new content and not enough fixing old content, like Hunter's Call, Sea Dogs, Athenas, and even Reapers (PvP faction that works best doing PvE).

Those things get fixed and it'll be an entirely new game anyway, so why the abandonment?
