Seagulls.

    It would be cool to be able to see visibly discernable seagulls on beaches, particularly considering they are such a feature on many habitable ones in real life. They can be surprisingly bold when it comes to trying to steal food.

    They could nick items that pirates leave on the shore to harpoon and move them around to be a hassle. To counter that, they could be chased off or something.

    ...Speaking of, dolphins would be also be cool to see. They could pop up alongside the ship when it is sailing at maximum speed, or when it initially entering a shallow area.

    The seagulls already have a role to play in SOT, they circle around salvage.

    I realize that the tiny birds that circle about shipwrecks are supposed to be seagulls with the sound used for them, but they are small and it is hard to tell what they are beyond the sounds used.

    Larger and more discernible gulls for the beaches would be cool to have

    I don't know about seagulls trying to steal your items, but some new ocean life sounds cool. Perhaps with TeamSeas and the drive to clean the oceans, Rare could do something to add life to the water. There was some pieces in the concept art book that show the concept of a manta ray.
