Different Audio for Bottom Deck Cannon Shots

  • Probably my single favorite feature of Sea of Thieves is how the game works in audio feedback for different in-game actions like getting full sails, hitting a cannon shot, killing another player, or a ship sinking (there are others).
An issue I sometimes run into is not knowing which deck on which a cannonball will create a hole after hitting a ship in the area where the two levels meet. This is mostly an issue when firing at galleons.
I think it would be a cool implementation of the current system to have a different, but similar sound play when a lower deck shot hits, maybe a clip that features cellos instead of violins.
Not essential, and this principle could be carried out too far (we don't need unique clips for hitting the wheel, mast, capstan, etc.), but depending on how information on hit location is tracked, this could be an easy feature to implement that would improve the existing system nicely.

  • If you hear the splash of water, it's a lower deck shot. 😉

  • Well if you shoot under the water is a lower deck, if you shot above the water line it’s a top deck (on a galleon that is)

  • @conceitedox8550 so as @Galactic-Geek said...there is a different audio, you hear a bit of a water splash...it's not easy to hear it out, but it's there, listen closely
Before someone comes up with "you don't say" or so...this splash is different from just hitting the water with a cannon and you can hear it from pretty far away
