I think there should be a option to brig and unbrig yourself. This could work even on a sloop. This could be just used for fun and could be used in situations when your spawn killed to allow you to spawn back in the brig with no way for the enemy crew to kill you or them so that you can just talk to them and show acceptance of defeat.
Option to brig yourself
@itz-majman It wouldn't work like being voted into the brig in the way you can't get yourself back out. You could freely put yourself in and out. probably with a short loading delay to keep from abusing it. @danbeardluff That could be changed.
@itz-majman It wouldn't be for hiding as much as giving a chance to talk. If you spawn in the brig you could then talk to your enemy's freely without the risk of fighting. Some people won't take the time to talk because they don't want you to kill them well your screaming truce. This will show your willingness for a truce or admitting defeat more so. This admitting defeat could end up with them sparing your ship and just taking your treasure and moving on. It would also just be for fun. You could brig yourself with a voted briged crew mate just for a joke.
Better yet, if you kill some one you have an option similar to ressurecting an ally but for an enemy you can lock them in the brig and one of their team mates would have to perform an unlock option on the door to let them out. Otherwise they would be locked there for like 3 minutes or something.
Not a great idea but I think it'd be fun. Greater risk for boarders other than just spawning back in and narrowing out the imbalance of numbers. Numbers greatly impact battles in this game.

That's actually a pretty damn cool idea!
Kill an enemy boarder on your ship? Lock him up for 60sec (duration can't be too big) before he receives an option to offer his soul to the ferry.
