Nerf to Trade Routes

  • Its disappointing to see these kind of nerfs... actually difficult to progress solo playing and buy stuff worth more than 2/3 million a piece

Oh please, the amount it gave you was simply outrageous. It was horribly easy to cheese and don't pretend that what you were doing wasn't cheese.

Rare did a good thing by nerfing it.

  • Sorry, but what was the nerf? Did Rare crow in the Season 2 trailer about how profitable cargo routes would be and then make them worthless?

  • I honestly never understand how a lot of this stuff that ends up nerfed a few days or weeks after an update ever makes it all the way to me/us. It's pretty obvious when something is too easy to level or too profitable and I'm sure insiders must give feedback about it being so. It happens over and over again

and it's not hard to make gold solo anymore. So many things someone can do now and emissaries make everything profitable. We had our week of cheesecake after an update now it's time to get back to the grind

  • Guess they want ya to Grind a lot more now.

  • Man they need profitable jobs in the game though. As someone who enjoys the pvp side of adventure, it's no fun robbing someone with just a castaway chest. We need more grade 5 flags out there especially from boring ol merchant. They really messed up this need

Oh please, the castaway chest is the rarest chest in the game lol. Who are you robbing that has nothing but a castaway??

  • yeah it was too high. 400k in 1 hour was laughable. it forces me to do nothing different, because nothing was worth it.
no athena, no fort can gave me such profit than the trade routes.

    its better now

  • Do you know how much they reduced the earnings from merchant?

  • @xultanis-dragon probably you

  • I wasn't getting 40k per hour with the trade routes unless I was already a level 5 emmisary. That said, I didn't duplicate them with a crew either.

  • @yamabrah

Someone mad that they can't cheese free money anymore?? Let me guess, you saw how easy it was to make the cash and then got mad that they nerfed it??

Stop trying to cheese the game??

  • Here's the real question.... Why would anybody do this quest now that its nerfed. Its rather boring sailing around in a big circle, so there is no incentive like big profits to do so now.

That leads to the question why did Rare waste their time on something nobody will do now? Could have spent that energy on many other needed changes/adds to the game.

Let it be profitable and it will accomplish what everyone wants. Grade 5 flags out there for Reapers to get whenever they want because they know the routes. No guessing where merchants will be. Valuable cargo on board for the PVP'ers and a great way to make money for those who don't like PVP or don't have much time to spend in game grinding/ getting more skilled.

Theres no time limit on the quest.

Grab a bunch of cargos. When you end up on that side of the world, turn them in.

You don't have to do JUST deliveries. You can do other merchant quests while waiting to end up on that side of the world.

Passing by the outpost you need but don't want to stop?? Load everything into a rowboat and move on.

    Seriously, no imagination.

    lol. So true.

  • So the stuff that costs millions of gold per piece is for players who put hard work into the game and earn it. You were able to earn about a million gold in 2 hours of work with an efficient crew. That's 60 hours for 30 million. It was so busted like that. Buying DA things is supposed to feel good and you feel like you had to work really hard to get that. It was never supposed to be something that people should be able to get fairly easily by using the trade routes, and it never will be.

At first I was annoyed that cosmetics were locked so hard, but it makes sense. There should be something for those who go above and beyond playing the game.

  • I agree that a nerf should have happened, but they went the wrong way about it. From what I've seen, they've decreased the gold reward by nearly 65-70 percent. That's insane. They should have increased incentives for players to attack other emissaries alongside with lowering it closer to 25- 30 percent.

I still stand by my original stance that this should be extremely profitable given it's the only gold-making method at this point that requires you to put up an initial investment of gold, and potentially having less gold in your bank than when you started.

They really need to rework this nerf, because as it stands, no one will do this except as an accessory to their preexisting merchant quests, which isn't how it was advertised originally.

  • IMO they should have increased the time between buys. Make it 6 or 8 in game days instead of 3.
This will also have them do other things while having a nice cargo on board for others to steal.

The pause between redeeming and animation of having it in your hands is detracting and ugly. I hope they will find another way to counter the buying/redeeming at the same time.

I still got grade 2 after just three sells, so they didn't nerf the rep that much. Or is it felt more in the higher grades ?

  • Here i thought it was just a good team exercise nothing like having your whole team work together! Ohhh well.

  • @lem0n-curry

I not sure much about the emissary rep as a whole as we sailed past lvl 75 a while back. The emissary Flag rep was usually ran up to lvl5 before selling any goods purchased to max profits. I believe the nerf was only on Gold pay out, not so much the rep earned to your emissary or flag.

We took advantage of the extra gold given and we felt it was a little high and expected a 30or so percent reduction in gold earned. It was a nice time sailing with 2 extra like minded sloops yesterday prior to the nerf.

To us we felt keeping it somewhat high gains ment it was going to be a feeding frenzy when we posted a reaper flag, and not only seen a total of 6 ships including us, every vessel was an emissary. HAPPY HUNTING! It will be interesting to see how many get around ( merchant emissarys) when reapers vs the world is in full swing.

  • @xultanis-dragon so did you actually read my first comment or you just like being toxic? I am upset about the nerf but not because its a cheese. its barely a cheese. I love running reapers and I would like to find some grade 5 merch boats and steal big loot. not catch some grade 2 merch with some chickens on the boat. check yourself dude you brown nosing rare a little to much.

  • @lem0n-curry i could get down with this idea. because that way if i catch a merchant boat with some commodities it would feel like a good steal. but now they arent worth anything.

lol, did you not see my reply to your first comment and then you come up with the "toxic" reply suggesting that I was the one carrying nothing but castaways.

Guessing you forgot that. Probably just need more ointment for all that hurt you got on your rear.

Check yourself broski because you are foaming at the mouth that players aren't allowed to cheese an emissary.

The stupid thing is your sitting here talking about how you want ships to have "loot" because you are SUUUCH a PvP'er but for some reason you are mad that they nerfed MERCHANT trade routes.

Let me ask you something, what part of trade routes being nerfed have to do with loot?? What part of a merchant emissary doing a trade route gives them Tier 4 loot like Captain chests or Villainous skulls?? You mad that they might have less of their trade route loot??

I would like to find some grade 5 merch boats and steal big loot.

lolololol what big loot?? Trade route loot??

    Broski, you are hilarious.

I love when people try to argue but then get caught in all their BS. Go be mad somewhere else. If you love cheese so much theres got to be a grocery store near you, just go buy some since you can't live without it.

  • @xultanis-dragon
I think you'll find the Commodity Crates are selling for quite a nice price.

  • @lem0n-curry

Oh yeah, I know that. We sank a galleon the other day with a ton of those crates. We sold it all at a single outpost and there was enough loot to get us to grade 5 and still had like 10 to 15 crates left over to keep selling.

I just don't understand, at grade 5 they sell for like what?? 5 to 7k per crate with the bonus?? That is a lot. Especially when you have like 30 of them.

Ok, then I didn't understand your

On an outpost you will get some very low prices and some very high prices and the other 5 still very nice prices. I think only the surplus items are worth less than Villainous skulls or chests. All the rest is better - and a shorter walk to turn in 😁.

BTW, you'll get full price for each at Reaper's.

  • Such a shame. There was an excitement about the game over the last few days. Merchant's were sailing with emissary flags and Reapers were sinking them. The game was fun to play again.

Please reconsider this nerf. Put the crates back to the normal price and the repeat purchase back to 3 days.

I'd thought they sell less at reapers. Hmm......then they should nerf that too lol.

Honestly its more just the arguing because of the way he replied then implied that I was the one being toxic when he forgot that he was the one who started it :):). Still don't agree with him as he implies that the changes will somehow cause merchant ships to only have chickens or level 2 merchants, when I want to ask WHEN has a merchant ship had animals?? I haven't seen that in MONTHS almost years at this point. Most merchants are in the DR doing cargo runs for some change or doing the manifest nowadays. Then about how he claims that ships only have castaways. Castaways are the rarest chest in the game.

He wants cheese and they took it away.

However, its more about his reply and him forgetting who started it than the argument. Maybe about 70-30??

I reply in turn :):). Thanks for the info though. I might just turn them at reapers from now on if they get full price there.

    @phantaxus

Broski no, players were doing it because it gave the MOST gold. It was cheesing to the hardest. Being able to make more money by BUYING crates, CHEESING the buying, then turning it??

You still get like 5 to 7k from grade 5 merchants. That is still A LOT. Its good the way it is. It was too much.

  • @xultanis-dragon
We hadn't done a chicken-run in ages, but we did some last month, did one per chance then saw the amount of gold with the 2.5 multiplier for a golden chicken :) so we did some more; my mate wants to buy the 8 million figurehead you see.

Why you don't see chickens is because they tend to turn into burned food when you attack the merchant 😁.

Also, the animal merchant might have improved - they have to evade ALL OF IT: storms, skloops and other players; these voyages tend to get tedious after a while though.

  • @mrmalfor Agreed. It was way too lucrative and took away any incentive to do literally anything else.

  • @xultanis-dragon

Then don't nerf it till after the event
